| Hey guys. Im curious as to where to get the QD points on my gun. I have the ctr stock so I know there is one there. Before I put on my buffer tube I was wondering if there is any purpose to having a sling mount on the end plate. I plan on running a 2 point sling. Just want to see if I need to buy a new end plate with sling attachment or not. Thanks.. |
| I run a magpul ms4 with IWC QD endplate and IWC keymod QD rail mount. I love this set up and it is very maneuverable. I got a deal I couldn't pass up on the ms4 or I would have gone with a TacticalLink QD bungee sling or Blue force sling. My CMMG keymod rail already had a QD hole in it but I put the IWC mount on because I liked the rotation limitation. The QD endplate brings the rifle up a little higher making the presentation to the shoulder much shorter and faster. |

appreciate the help guys. I was curious about the end plate qd attachments just because I didn't want to put my buffer tube on and then have to go back and redo it if it turned out I needed a different end plate. Benefit of a QD end plate on the lower is you can attach it there and change the stock length to suit your situation (body armor vs no body armor for example) and the sling won't change (slide stock all the way in it can now be too loose, extend all the way out can tighten it up). If you run a single point sling configuration (I recommend the MS4 from Magpul) it goes again to changing the stock and how far down the rifle hangs at the side. With a 1pt/2pt sling configuration like the MS4 you get the best of both worlds if you put a point up on your rail. If you are worried about it, there are other ways besides a end plate. There is an attachment that you can use on a buffer tube to mount a QD point (though prevents the stock from fully collapsing). Like others have said, it is a lot of personal preference with trial and error. |

this one goes on the rec end plate, one of my favs.
i'll run the magpul ms4 in single point set up from this location. i still have a QD socket on the rail too though. rec end plaste QD you may find the magpul stock QD sock to be bothersome as it allows full 360 degree rotation, depending on model, some hit the plastic stock and stop but if not, its gonna get twisted up on up fast. others dont seem to mind this little nuance. |

As end plates go I lean towards the affordable IWC which is solid billet and melonited finish. I'd rather have the option of a QD in that location than not. Slings I lean to the Blue Force line but am itching to try the padded Magpul MS-1 but I cringe at wanting to shell out $60 for it.

I had a non QD loop type endplate for paraclip and found myself never using single point or two point with it.
I have QD sockets on both sides of a Magpul ACS stock and one out on my Daniel Defense rail, a QD RSA. I use a Magpul MS4 sling with this and it is working well for me. I guess if I had the lower apart, I would put a QD socket end plate on it for the option. |
