| Looking around for a good range bag for my AR. Any recommendations would be appreciated |
| One good option for a range bag is a quality photo/camera bag. These used to be more plentiful when film was the norm, but with 35mm camera bodies making a huge comeback in digital, more bags have returned. Why a camera bag? They come in just about any size you need. They are well padded. They have internal compartment dividers that are moveable and can be positioned to fit just about any outing from pistol to long gun. Most models have external slots and pouches. Even good camera bags are often blown out at big camera/video outlets and especially online. Something tough enough and protective enough for high dollar lenses will be more than good enough for any firearms accessories. Most all have excellent padded straps for comfortable carrying. Frankly, I think many range bags just evolved from photo/camera bags over time. Just an option. |

I have the 5.11 bag that goes on sale for $50 fairly frequently, which is what I paid.
5.11 Tactical Range Ready Bag It may not be as portable as a backpack, but it has a ton of divided and pocket storage and makes it really easy to get to something fast. Definitely one of my better purchases. Video review here (warning: glockstore guy incoming):

THIS all day. I LOVE my Midway bag. Holds everything you need for a full range day +1 Mine just arrived last week. I had picked up one for my brother for his birthday last October and liked it so much I had to get one for myself. The Voodoo Tactical Scorpion range bag is another option. It's slightly smaller than the Midway bag...and pricier. |
Midwayusa Compact Competition Bag My favorite range bag. I had the larger version but found it too big and heavy once loaded. I recently purchased this charcoal bag and love the color. Should be more than big enough to carry your range gear. Highly recommended. |
| I use one of these with smaller organizers inside. I sling my rifle as is or in a case. |
