Hi I am looking to put a bipod on my ar 15 and at my local bass pro they have Caldwell and Blackhawk. Would one be better than the other or is there another brand I should be looking at? I am looking at the 6 to 9  and also the swivel model.

Both are clones of the Harris.  I'd go ahead and get the origional Harris, swivel model, with the noched legs from any number of online retailers.  The Harris should hold up better in the long term than the clones.

I use an original Harris and have had the same bench rest model for a long time.  Its worth the extra cash to get the original.  As for tilt and other stuff I dont need or like them so I cannot comment on them.

As for the 2 you mentioned either would be OK, and think they are about the same.  I have looked at the caldwell version and it seems to be made ok, just have not tried one.

As for mounting, I dont know what type hand guard your using.  I use a Head Down 15" hand guard with keymod.  It has a short forward pic rail section on the bottom and had my bipod mounted there, but needed that section for my camera.  So I moved the bipod to just behind it and used a PWS keymod bipod adapter and Im loving it so far.

Have to agree about Harris.  I have owned the chicom made clones...and while they will do the job, if you want them to last go Harris as they are simply built better.
