Hi everyone,

I thought you might be interested in seeing the case I'm making for my suppressors.

In the past I've cut my own foam for Pelican rifle cases with electric kitchen knives, but for this project I decided to go with a website that came with great recommendations - mycasebuilder.com

My project started with an empty Pelican 1600 case (I got a 1600 and 1620 from work).

I used the web based CAD program on their site and came up with these 2 designs for the base and tray layers:

They had a 3-D rendering part that gives you a great idea of how it will look:

Finished Look:

Base: (Left pocket is for stamps / docs & right pocket is for oven mitts, wrenches, O-rings, etc...)

Tray: (4 of the 10 suppressors are here, the other 6 are still in jail - Should be less than a month until they are out!)

In addition to the cost of the foam, I paid 2 extra fees.

The first was their "Fail Safe" fee that was $7.99 and was for a "Do Over" if you mess up on any of the measurements.  So far I'm pretty happy with the measurements, but a few are a little off - Once I see how the other 6 fit, I might use the "Do Over"...

The second was for it to be cut in half and have 2 layers made, and for a layer of hard plastic to be put on the bottom of the "Tray" layer to make it more rigid - That was $19.37.

Very nice!

Thanks!

All 10 of the suppressors are SWR and I was thinking of putting a custom vinyl decal on the outside of the case (They are all out of the cool SWR logo / bumper stickers, etc...)

I was thinking of:
Shhhhh! Inside (Like the Intel Inside logos)
Case O' Cans
Silent but Deadly
Silent but Violent

Any opinions / suggestions?

If anyone has some SWR decals they don't want I'll pay the postage to take 'em off your hands!

I found a website that does custom decals that I've used for other projects, What do you think of this? (Except in white on a black case):

Is that even how you'd spell "ssssh"?

I like the case.  Very nicely done.

As for the decal, I believe it would be "shhhh".

OK - I went with "Shhhh"

KMC123 - that's some really sweet work there.

I have to try to hang with you more often; maybe some of your genius will rub off

I'd put (hide) a GPs tracker in it with so much $$$$ in equipment inside it.

Great idea, but the "Case O' Cans" only has the cans in it when going shooting - they are WELL secured when not in the case...

UPDATE:

All cans that are going in the case are now in my possession - I still have 2 Gemtech Mist-22's in jail, but those are barrel replacements and will be permanently attached to 2 Ruger 10/22's - never in the case.

I sent the case foam back to mycasebuilder.com for some final re-arrangements / sizing mistakes I made (I paid the 8 dollar fee to get one re-do) so I'll have to wait a few before a final picture update...

I figured. :)

Just so much waiting, taxes and stamps tied up in a small box ... Just thought it was cheap insurance.

Thanks! Did you do the foam directly from the Pelican website or a different site? I got a couple cases laying around that I would like to do custom foam in.

Hey Royal - I did the foam at a site called My Case Builder - http://www.mycasebuilder.com

If you want to see what it looks like without having to set up an account, etc..., go back to the start of the thread and look at the screenshots I took of their online cad / design program - It's pretty cool.

That's really cool that you can order them pre-made like that.

If you're into DIY stuff, you can get a kit for making foam inserts that comes with the foam and the tools for under $100
