I'm very interested in getting the Magpul MS3 sling, because Magpul makes very good quality products and I really like the ability to transition quickly form a 1 point to a 2 point sling.

However, right now my AR has the generic ambi-dexterous end plate with one loop on both sides.  The connector for the MS3 is too big and can't be used with that mount, so I need to get a new one, and that's my question.

I know of the Magpul ASAP, but I wanted to know if anyone that uses the MS3 had found any rear mount alternatives that they liked better?  Also, I'm thinking that just a generic, rail mounted front sling mount will work, but I'm not sure; so input on that as well, please.  Thanks for your help.

Pretty much all of my lowers run a QD endplate socket like Noveske or IWC (DD also has one).

That havin been said, I know one could easily transition from 1 to 2 point sling positions but from my use the real benefit was getting the flexibility to try and work out setting it up the best way for you. I don't see myself really switching back and forth.

FWIW, I run single from the QD receiver endplate and if using the MS3 as a 2 point sling I use the rail and the stock (Magpul CTR).

I use the Magpul ASAP that you mentioned and it works very well.

I asked for the ASAP at Christmas and didn't get it. It was a good thing.

I now run the Magpul RSA up front and a SLAP on the back. No parts to rattle like the ASAP.

My MS3 works great on both.

The ASAP jingles like a bell.  Not a fan.

Not sure if the design has changed, but someone in this old thread complained about the SLAP damaging their MS3's paraclip.

If you haven't bought the MS3 yet, you might also consider the version that has a QD connector and just one paraclip instead of the version with two paraclips....and then go with a QD end plate .

BTW, this is the MS3 model with the QD connector, but I am using a Z-360, Gen 2 to the rear of the castle nut for the QD connection point.

I recently went to the MS3 QD in conjunction with Noveske end plates on ALL my rifles.

I am much happier with this setup than I was with the ASAP plate and traditional MS3.

The Paraclip is phenomenal for speed.  Thus, I wanted to keep that on the part that converts from 1 pt to 2 pt.

The QD is more universal, so I can use any other sling out there on my rifles now, and still maintain the function of the Magpul slings.  Speed isnt a concern with taking off a 2 point, or removing the single point from a rifle....so no sacrifice there.

Noveske plates are also easier to mount, as they dont have a bar sticking out blocking half of the nut.  The rattle never bothered me.  Im not a ninja, and when slung properly, they dont make noise.

I got a great deal on my MS3 but I might look at getting the QD version in the future.

Sounds like you guys haven't heard but Magpul just displayed their new QD plate and a new MOE QD connection point for their MOE hand guards - not the rail mounted one theyve had out for a while now but new style that mounts into the MOE slots

Also their new MS1 sling with modular connection options is their best sling now and is not too short like the MS3 and MS4

Cool. The end plate looks nice.

Heck, I just noticed they sell the paraclips separately. I've been looking for new ones since the cheap one on my gear bag broke.
