| Was curious if it would be worth it to install a MagPul BAD lever to my Colt LE6940? Have read some good things about it, just trying to figure out the pros and cons. Thanks |

some receivers don't like them and cause malfunctions, bolt locking to the rear mid-magazine for instance. There are several levers on the market... The plastic Magpul wouldn't fit/function with my JP upper so I opted for a "Phase 5 (V2) It's a complete bolt stop/lever... replaces your OEM bolt catch/lever... Functions great... |

The BAD Lever isn't plastic. You sure you had a Magpul? |

Pro's: some think they look cool. Quicker bolt release.
Con's: busier trigger finger (some worry may cause negligent discharge). Could cause interference with some winter gloves. I'm not a fan, as I'm from the "get your dang finger AWAY from that trigger until ready to fire!" camp. But there's some VERY skilled/trained people out there who love them. To each their own. |

Got one on both my rifles. Love them.
I use it mainly for malfunctions though and tend to ignore it for sending the bolt home, and instead just use the release. I'm a smaller framed guy with medium-to-small hands, and so it makes locking the bolt back to deal with a malfunction a lot faster and easier for me and less likely to fumble things. |

If you ever run your rifle with gloves you will quickly learn that you can inadvertently drop your bolt or hold it open when you aren't trying to. I took a carbine course at DARC last year and Rich said "by the end of class you will regret having that thing on your weapon..." He was absolutely correct. I took it off on day two. Don't waste your money. |

The BAD lever works great when everything is in spec. Often an out od spec bolt catch or spring will make it malfunction. If the paddle on the catch is too tall it will cause the lever to make contact with the lower in the trigger area causing the bolt not to catch on the last round.A week spring will cause the bolt to randomly lock back mid magazine or when ever it feels like it really. Those are the problems I see with it the most. Lowers usually arent out of spec enough to cause issue. As far as use with gloves I never had an issue at all. The lever sits so far forward It was easy to get my fingers in the trigger without touching it.
I really liked the bad lever while I had it. I opted to go to a Seekins enhanced bolt catch and now the lever is sitting in a drawer. I do miss it every once in a while. There are things you can do with the BAD lever that just arent possible without it. |
| I personally like it, it's one of those to each his own thing, some hate it and make claims that its terrible and whatnot but I think it's a matter of familiarity, and I think if you are willing to get familiar with it it can noticeably speed up reloads and whatnot. |
