Was curious if it would be worth it to install a MagPul BAD lever to my Colt LE6940?  Have read some good things about it, just trying to figure out the pros and cons.  Thanks

I have one on my 6920 and love it.. I don't really see a downside to installing one.

some receivers don't like them and cause malfunctions, bolt locking to the rear mid-magazine for instance.

I did a BAD lever at the same time as a MOD 3 Charging handle. They seem to work together like peas and carrots.

There are several levers on the market...
The plastic Magpul wouldn't fit/function with my JP upper so I opted for a "Phase 5 (V2)
It's a complete bolt stop/lever... replaces your OEM bolt catch/lever...
Functions great...

I did not like it.  I took it off almost immediately. .  Its sits in it's original packaging at the ready in case I loose an arm.

I recommend getting a good strong spring for your bolt catch if you do get one. Other than that take it off and practice without it every now and then. You don't want to freeze up if you grab a rifle without it

The BAD Lever isn't plastic.  You sure you had a Magpul?

Installed a Phase 5 ebr v2 on a lower. Functions perfectly.

Like stated above though, it replaces the standard bolt catch. It doesn't clamp on to it.

MAGPUL BADLEVER is NOT plastic, never has been.

I like mine, never had a failure or a premature bolt lock back.

Easy to install/remove.  Works well, and little to no adjustment time for me. Did some basic drills to get the hang of it.

Another Phase 5 V2 user here. A little under 2500 rounds since...no problems caused by it.

The Tactical Link EBAL is nicer and fit/functions better than the Magpul IMO and you can get them in different colors.

I use them and like them.

They are not a lot of money and install in a minute so I would say buy it and see if you like it.

With a lot of this stuff I buy it to see if I like it. If I don't I sell it. Whatever money I lose I chock up to the cost of learning.

Pro's: some think they look cool. Quicker bolt release.
Con's: busier trigger finger (some worry may cause negligent discharge). Could cause interference with some winter gloves.

I'm not a fan, as I'm from the "get your dang finger AWAY from that trigger until ready to fire!" camp. But there's some VERY skilled/trained people out there who love them. To each their own.

Got one on both my rifles.  Love them.

I use it mainly for malfunctions though and tend to ignore it for sending the bolt home, and instead just use the release.  I'm a smaller framed guy with medium-to-small hands, and so it makes locking the bolt back to deal with a malfunction a lot faster and easier for me and less likely to fumble things.

Don't like anything in the trigger guard? Sounds like a lot of people have never owned a garand or m1a.

Garbage.

If you ever run your rifle with gloves you will quickly learn that you can inadvertently drop your bolt or hold it open when you aren't trying to.

I took a carbine course at DARC last year and Rich said "by the end of class you will regret having that thing on your weapon..."

He was absolutely correct. I took it off on day two.

Don't waste your money.

The BAD lever works great when everything is in spec. Often an out od spec bolt catch or spring will make it malfunction. If the paddle on the catch is too tall it will cause the lever to make contact with the lower in the trigger area causing the bolt not to catch on the last round.A week spring will cause the bolt to randomly lock back mid magazine or when ever it feels like it really. Those are the problems I see with it the most. Lowers usually arent out of spec enough to cause issue. As far as use with gloves I never had an issue at all. The lever sits so far forward It was easy to get my fingers in the trigger without touching it.

I really liked the bad lever while I had it. I opted to go to a Seekins enhanced bolt catch and now the lever is sitting in a drawer. I do miss it every once in a while. There are things you can do with the BAD lever that just arent possible without it.

I personally like it, it's one of those to each his own thing, some hate it and make claims that its terrible and whatnot but I think it's a matter of familiarity, and I think if you are willing to get familiar with it it can noticeably speed up reloads and whatnot.

As long as your upper and lower dont protrude outwards or have a lip, (most dont) then the BAD lever will run perfect. If you have the lip our protrusion, itll get caught up on the reciever

The true advantage to these levers is not the ability to drop the bolt, but the ability to lock the bolt back without taking your firing hand from the grip.
