I currently have the front end of my two point sling attached to a QD mount that is attached onto my Elzetta ZFH 1500 light mount as pictured: ( see here ).

I have been looking into the Mount-N-Slot series of sling mounts that attach directly to Magpul's MOE handguards. The only question I have is how durable are these? It seems that something attached to a set of handguards would be less sturdy than a mount attached to a FSB that is pinned in place. Has anyone really put one of these mounts through its paces (carbine courses, 3-gun matches, LE duty use, ect.) and how has it held up?

the two mounts I am looking are: QD Sling Mount-N-Slot and the QD Rotation Limited Sling Mount

Is the only difference in these that one has limited rotation and is a little bit lower profile than the standard QD Sling Mount?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help.

Personally, I think you would have to intentionally try to destroy these before duty use would. I think in normal use, your handguard would break first, and don't see that happening.

What I've seen from IWC has all been solid and well made.  I like QD Micro.

I have the QD micor mounted on an MOE handguard.  I don't think you run the risk of breaking one.  Wait until you are trying to drill though the handguard and see how tough that stuff is...I think it will make a believer out of you. Give it a shot and see what you think.  Worst case you're out a $25.00 handguard.

IWC is in a niche market. That said, those little products that they manufacture are some of the best available.

another +1 on the QD micro, takes a little bit of planning to fit it on the MOE guard, but really all you need is a drill and maybe a razor blade, looks real slick when its done though.  i love how low profile it is.  that combined with another QD micro on the side of my A1 stock make a great combo.

Have you ever tried to:
a) break a set of Magpul handguards? or

b) tried to rip a set of handguards off a rifle?
Because to get it to fail that's what you'd have to do. I suppose there is an off chance of ripping the mount out of the handguards, but again, you'd have to really try hard to do that.
I use the IWC stuff on two of my working rifles. My primary duty rifle, and a backup. They have been run hard and have survived several classes. The reality is this. The average working cop does not put that much stress on a patrol rifle to cause a set of handguards and or a sling swivel to fail. It is much more likely that you'd have a mechanical issue with the gun. Most patrol rifles ride in the car a lot, get carried a lot, and shot very little if ever. And unless you're on a team, not much happens that would put that kind of stress on a handguard or sling swivel.
USAF Pararescue is using the drop in DD Omega rails on thier M4's. They have sling mounts in them Most modern drop in rails or free float rails have some kind of built in sling swivel.
All that being said, know this. If you don't like it or don't trust it for whatever reason, don't use it.
An older picture of my working middy. IWC sling mount and light mount. It now wears a T1, a Magpul BUIS, and a Magpul STR.

This gun has been run hard and shows its age. But I do trust IWC stuff on my duty guns. I also teach at a regional LE academy, so my guns get banged around a lot by students and other instructors.

I have the light mount for my Troy TRX Extreme and it didn't grip my Fenix TK11 very well, so I wrapped the light in some electrical tape and it grips pretty tight now. I haven't had any issues with it shifting since.
