Is the OD (padded version) really as bright as the pictures show? Or is it a true dark OD color?

I have an OD VTAC. Looks like standard OD colour to me, I guess you could say that it's dark. Not sure what photos you're seeing that make it apear bright, the ones on the Viking Tactics website are accurate, they're kind of small though.
