I am thinking hard about switching my USPSA/IPDA gun back over to a single point sling. I have owned the MS2 and normal MS3 in the past, and I did not like how they mounted. The QD has really caught my attention, and I think the freedom of a one point sling would be nice while doing competition stuff. I'm thinking I will go with the Damage Industries adapter, and of course a MSA out front. This will be replacing my VCAS.
The VCAS will go on my SHTF, end of all things rifle. I stripped my comp gun of as much magpul as possible, but in the end I ended up putting most of it back on. Their stuff is just to cheap and effective. Who is running the MS3 QD and what are your thoughts on it. Is it an improvement over the standard MS3? I would also be able to run it on my AK with a VLTOR buffer tube. |
| My new M6A2 SPR from LWRC came with a LWRC Ambi QD Rear Sling Mount end plate for the stock. I wanted to have the MS3 single point sling and had to decide would I just buy the MS3 QD or change the rear sling mount end plate and have more fluid change over from strong to weak side as needed. I decided to change the LWRC supplied rear sling QD mount to a Magpul ASAP sling plate and go with the MS3 non QD. My thoughts were that with the QD mount I wouldnt have as fluid or non restrictive changever from strong to weak side. Yes, I could reattach the QD mount as needed to the opposite side to not have single point sling binding but whenever changing from strong side to weak side in actual classes I have attended there is no time for that. In the heat of the moment the QD mount will work with the single point attached on either side but in my experience it isnt as fluid or less binding on the sling. My .02 |
| I have the MS3 and MS3 QD. Personally I prefer the MS3 for the ease of transitioning from shoulder to shoulder as stated above. I'm also somewhat biased against QD slings as I'm constantly worried about what if I abuse it a bit too much and it drops my weapon. I've never had that issue before, and the AR I run the QD sling on is actually heavier than the one I use a normal MS3 on. I'm also a fan of the lock/safety on the normal MS3 so I can lock the clips from opening if I bang them against something. |

Very pleased with it thus far. I switched over from a Gear Sector single-point (another great sling) but wanted to give the MS3 a shot. Adding a QD model sealed the deal for me, as I was not big on Magpuls ASAP plate.
I'm using it with a Troy Professional mount and an RSA on a suppressed 11.5" SBR. |
| Yes, the LWRC QD mount is on both sides and not in the middle. If yours is in the middle at the bottom then a MS3 with QD mount would be a very smooth change over from strong to weak it would seem. I really did want to go with the MS3 QD. Any type of hooks on a sling mount adds further play and I do see the Magpul ASAP mount as having slop and more noise issues which might not be a big issue with most but for me I like a very fluid non binding/less noise option. |
