Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a good backpack to use for an AR-15? I'd like to take something to the range that isn't long and bulky, but keeps the rifle tight in the bag to prevent it from rattling and getting beat up. It doesn't need to be a range bag per say as I'd like to just have something that works well. My AR is a 16 inch variant with an AAC flash hider. I'd like to have something small, so breaking down the rifle is not a problem. Additionally, I'd like to keep the cost to a reasonable level ($50-75), but any suggestions are great. Thanks. |

This morning, I picked up a Fox 36" AW case. It appears to be well made and very sturdy. It has a nice setup with shoulder straps and kidney belt. I got it at a local shop, but here is a link to one....btw: also picked up 2 mag pouches for it that hold 3 P-Mags each.....

I've picked up a few things over the years made by fox, mostly all from army navy stores. Every single bag (small ammo/medic type bags) all had the zipper break off. The canvas material seems awesome if only they found a way to keep it zipped together. Hopefully you dont have the same issues. |

I came here to suggest this. It's expensive but i'll be getting one to carry my afghan. |

discreet rifle case
the UTG's are pretty sturdy and work well, if you don't mind made in China. |

Which one of those have you had experience with? |

I have a mountainsmith pack that will take a broken down 16 inch carbine perfectly.
looks like im going hiking or to the gym. While there is no padding, which doesn't bother me, it works like a charm. My AK's ride in a baseball bat bag, my neighbors think I play a lot of company softball.

| Check out http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/mil-spec-plus-42-tactical-gun-case.aspx?a=406459 - I've got one of these, some are made by condor and some by voodoo, but I use the shoulder straps to carry mine around and it works just like a backpack. Holds two long guns with a divider, room for pistols, ammo, mags and all that. They also have one smaller size and one bigger from the one linked. |
