I have heard nothing but good things about this sling and I was planning on buying it soon. I just have a few questions.
1. I am a big guy, and I was planning on mounting it in the stock front post location and the rear butt stock (MOE) location. Would this sling be long enough? 2. How would the rifle hang in the previously mentioned configuration? Would the standard front loop location cause it to rotate the rifle? Pics of someone actually wearing the rifle in this config would be great, but just input would be appreciated. I use a Middy MOE handguard and stock, so any other options for attachment points would be welcome. I guess I am just trying to find the most comfortable easiest way to have the sling set up without spending loads on trial and error. Thanks in advance for the help. |

The VCAS sling have plenty of extra length, I'm about average height and size guy and I have about a foot and a half of extra sling length, on my padded version sling I had to cut about a foot of webbing so it would fit me better. Larry Vickers is a big guy too and he have no problems using his sling. 2. You would need a M4 side sling barrel mount mounted under the front sight base just like what you see with the M4 carbines or you could install an IWC side sling mount on your MOE handguard. Here's a video instruction link about using the Vickers sling. Vickers VCAS Sling Instruction - Video link IWC Sling Mounts for MOE and Standard Stocks - link |

Edit: I was thinking of getting a DD burnsed loop to replace the retaining plate, would drastically affect the way the rifle hangs? |

Any type of sling attachment at the front as long as the sling mount are located on the side of the handguard/ barrel will lay flat. I personally don't prefer HK hooks because of my experience with them with my HK carbine, the HK hooks are not very strong, I bent a few of them before. MASH type hooks would be stronger and better than the HK hooks, MASH hooks are a bit slower to attach and detach than HK, but currently I have heavy duty QD swivels on most of my carbines. I have one of those DD Burnsed loop on one of my carbines and it works pretty good in my opinion. |

Gotcha, I don't really plan on taking the sling off the rifle a whole lot and I think I would like it mounted a little further forward so I thought the hook might do the trick (not to mention, its 5$ compared to 30$ for the QD mounts). I'll give it a shot and if it isn't up to my liking, get the QD swivel.
Thanks for the input. |
