I'm looking to get a flash light mount for my AR. So far I have a surefire G2 that I am considering attaching. I need a grip, but I'm not sure if I want a pressure switch or not.  I would like to know opinions whether or not to have a pressure switch. This rifle will be used for SWAT purposes. Also is the LED or regular light prefered?

I was looking at the Daniel Defense offset mount with the big knob on top for my Fenix TK11 R2. Price was around 60 dollars. Then I came across this one on Ebay for around 20 bucks and let me tell you it is built like a tank. 1" Flashlight Offset Ring Mount Picatinny 7/8 Weaver, put in ebay search. Looks like the DD with the big knob for less price and it will not budge when you lock it in !!!! Best 20 bucks I ever spent !!!! Have the pressure switch for the light but left it off because I can turn it on and off with my thumb when my hand is on the AFG (Magpul) on the rail. Plus you can"t accidentally turn it on like the pressure switch and the cord to me looks like it could get caught on something and get ripped off, just my 2 cents . Hope this helps.

Does your rifle have a rail?

If you're looking for something inexpensive, just get a regular 1" scope ring. It works fine with a G2 and is just as solid as a more expensive light mount. As for a presure switch, I can't help you, as I've never used one. I use the knuckle of my support hand index finger to actuate the switch on the end of my G2LED. It's simple and it works. Here's a pic of the setup:

As for the light itself, the one shown is a regular incandescent G2. It has served me well on two different duty rifles, and I've never had problems with the bulb breaking. I recently switched it out for a G2LED, just for extra insurance against failure. Having the batteries last longer is another plus. If you look around on the EE here, you can find new G2LEDs selling for around $50.

Gear sector for the light mount, cant beat it.  As far as pressure switch, its personal, I dont use them on my two SWAT rifles, but its up to you.

You might try looking into an elzetta mount.

There is a review here.

and a picture of mine.

I did not like it on a 20" rifle (needed a switch), but on the carbine it works nice.
No need for a switch, I can operate it with my finger, twist the cap for full time illumination.
It also has a quick disconnect screw (top screw) that allows me to quickly pull the G2 off my rifle if I just need my light.
