Hi all,
I currently have Vltor mod stock on my bushy and like to change to CTR. Besides the stock itself what else do i need? I don't need to change the buffer tube, right?
Thanks for your help.

No. you can use the buffer tube you have but you have to decide if it is commercial or mil-spec and order your CTR accordingly.

Thanks stonehaven for a quick reply.
WHat dictates whether I need to order mil spec or commercial?
Thank again,

Try a search. I don't remember the dimensions.

You're changing out an EMOD for a CTR?

Just get the MOE...really there isn't much of a difference.

Since you're already using the Vltor Modstock, they're mil-spec size so you could use your existing buffer tube and just get the mil-spec size CTR stock.

Here are the buffer tube's outer diameter sizes:

Mil-spec = 1.14"

Commercial = 1.17"

Also the mil-spec size CTR stock comes with the rubber buttpad since last year so make sure when you order it that the buttpad comes with it, some dealers might charge you extra for it and if they do don't get it from them.

I have both the Vltor Modstock and Magpul CTR mil-spec model stocks.

Magpul reference mil-spec VS commercial tech notes:

Anyone know where you can find a CTR in the Commercial size?

it depends on whats important, if you want absolute slop free lock up, and the swivel mounts on the rear of the stock, then the CTR is more than worth the extra cost of admission. i use both and the MOE still locks up better than most generic adjustable stocks, but the CTR is completely different.
