My new Troy single point sling arrived and I must say that I hate it.  Is there a trick to adjusting this thing?  I put it on and hung the gun from it and it felt like I was carrying a bag of bricks around my neck.  I'm having a hard time believeing this would be so uncomfortable.  How tight should the sling be around your body? Any advice would be appreicated.

I have stated numerous time how terrible this stupid ass sling is from Troy. Get a Gear Sector ASP instead, you will be much happier with it.

The sling should be over one shoulder and under the other arm; if it's just hanging off your neck, it's going to hurt.

Adjust it so that it's pretty snug, but doesn't limit you shouldering the rifle on EITHER shoulder (one of the big advantages of a 1-point is easy transitions to your off-side).

Shoot it often, and well.

The end.

With a single point you should have the slack loose enough so when your collapsable stock is set at the position you want it at, that the bottom of the stock hangs somewhere around our left nipple. Take a look.

This is pretty much how I have it and it's just not comfortable to me.  I'm going to order a two point sling and call it a day.  Thanks for everyones help.

I only put single point slings on short/light weapons, not on rifles.  My Specter Gear MOUT sling works great on my 9mm AR pistol.  On my 14.5" or 16" barreled carbines, however, it feels like the rifle weighs a ton and pulls straight down on me, like you said.

Plus, the carbines will swing when you walk with a single point.  Try running, and you get a pendulum effect going.

My attitude towards single points is they are for retention - nothing else.
If your carbine is swinging around while walking or feels heavy - you are in the wrong environment for a single point.
