What's your opinion on this stock for a 16" carbine? It seems geared towards more downrange type activity, but I don't see why it wouldn't be effective for CQB use as well. Candid thoughts are appreciated. http://www.magpul.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_88_90&products_id=193 |

Too heavy with no real benefits for anything but a precision rifle.
To much money to pay for something that gives you no real benefits on that rifle. it's worth it to be able to set up your precision rifle for precise LOP and cheek weld every time, but for a CQB rifle it's a big, expensive brick. |

Quoted: Candid... love it. How much does it weigh? My RRA is coming with the standard a2 stock. I'd like to replace it... for added benefits and less importantly just to look different.Too heavy with no real benefits for anything but a precision rifle. Strange that it's coming with an A2 stock, is this a ban state rifle? a standard M4 stock would be fine for that rifle, but if you want something a little more comfortable with a better cheek weld then look at the VLTOR stocks. |

Looking at Magpul's site... it's 1.85 pounds. Their UBR is 1.56. Their Milspec CTR is .79. I guess a pound is a significant amount of weight though it doesn't seem like it. My 2nd choice was the UBR, but seems heavy too. I don't get the guys that put UBR's on lightweight rifles either, they are also too heavy. I could see one maybe on a recon, or an SPR, but I've seen people put them on SBR's with 10.5" barrels |

My apologies... it is actually an adjustable stock. I still want something different though. Perhaps I'll go with the Vltor or maybe the lighter weight Milspec model. |
