All,

I have a DPMS AP4 Carbine.  I want to change out the front forearm grip with a picatanny rail style drop in system.  I want to do it my self as i dont want to mess with removing the from sight and all that.

I am looking at the following

YHM    http://www.yhm.net/store/forearms.html

Samson   http://www.samson-mfg.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SM&Product_Code=STAR-DI&Category_Code=AR-15_Rail_Systems

Troy     http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Troy-Ind-Tactical-Free-Float-Carbine-p/troy%20mrf%20di.htm

With a recommendation i am also looking at the Daniel Defense Omega Free floating drop in system.

Can you tell me the good the bad and the ugly with these.  Im trying to decide which of these to get.  If you have any info i would appreciate it.

Thanks

You should really also consider the Daniel Defense Omega rail.

don't worry to much as the search button kinda sucks, yet so few people use the 'old school' method of just looking through some of the back pages of the forum

I don't own any of those rails ( I did really look at the YHM one for a time, a long while back ) which leads me to my next question: do you need four rails ? I see a lot of pics of guys with four rail and only use one for a vert grip. seams a bit much ( although the 4 rail ones do look a bit more 'bad ass' though )

Nah, i just like the way it looks....  Im just a civilian that will keep this weapon around "just in case". It has been added to my Hurricane Prepairdness Equipment  I guess i just want to be tacticool BUT i dont want to just purchase junk. Everything on my gun seems to be Mil Spec so i would like to use quality stuff.  I'm really just getting into the AR scene.  I was happy to be able to purchase my gun right before elections.  Now im looking into other stuff.  Actually after seeing the movie I Am Legend i thought his gun looked bad a$$.  I may add a vertical grip but i am in the process of getting a flashlight to put on it too.

I have definately added the Daniel Defense Omega to my list as well.

Buy the DD Omega and don't look back.  A breeze to install.  I have the Troy drop in and it's loose on my 6920.

+1  The DD Omega is way lighter than a YHM carbine forend on my other AR.

Does anyone who posted here have a pic of the DD Omega installed on their gun?   That you can e-mail me or post?

I just found the DD Omega post.  Im going to flip through that as well.

Thanks

I just put a MI non free float on my CMMG carbine last night––-solid rail.  Mounts everything I have with no issue.  Has a cunthair of side to side play when really torqueing on the VFG.  No issue at all.

I'm going to order a DD Omega 9" for my BCM mid length tonight. I like the integrated sling swivel socket.

Can anyone tell me if there is any vendor that has free shipping or discounts for AR15 members?  I decided im going to get the DD Omega and am looking to see if there are any discounts before i order.

I see Brownwells, Rainier Arms, and Black Bear Hardware, and Bravo Company USA all carry these and have them in stock.

Thanks for the help.

Free shipping is nice. But, service after the sale is important too.

I would go with Bravo Company, or Bright Flashlights. They both have forums in the industry area.

Free floar, DD Omega.

Non Free Float, MI or Troy.
