I recently started 'training' to shoot competitions with my AR. Mainly, I wanted to learn how to really shoot in every position, as well as running and the gentleman who I am working with (retired GSgt trainer from Quantico) told me the first day to take my Vicker's 2 point sling off and use a leather MRT sling to train with in both prone and seated firing positions. Does anyone have any experience with these? I wasn't about to second guess him and start asking about the benefits over the Vicker's but I could see that in specially prone, this sling along with the shooting glove gave me a very stable platform to shoot with at 200 yards. Is this something geared more towards training, or is this a sling that can be used in combat conditions? My main concern was that it did not have a 'at rest' position like the Vickers did. It was either being held and the sling wrapped around my bicep, or carried over 1 shoulder - not too great for taking obsticles or moving quickly. Thanks |
