Just picked up a padded Vickers with a cobra QD, and either I lost alot of weight overnight or this sling is way too big. I have adjusted it as far as it will go to take up all of the slack and it is still too big. This is my first VCAS and it is well made but at this point it is not functional unless I was loaded down with gear. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the remedy outside of returning it?

A lot of people get confused about the Vickers sling. The part of the sling with the pull tab should have all the slack taken out of it...in other words, it should be pulled as far forward as possible to the point where the pull tab is near the forward QD mount. (The pull tab section of the sling is the forward part of the sling and should always be mounted in the forward position.)

This exists to allow you to quickly put some slack into the sling should you need to switch shoulders, etc.

You actually adjust the size of the sling loop with the loop at the back of the sling. This can be all the way down to the steel loop that separates the rest of the sling (the rear section) from the quick adjust part of the sling. (Front section) When the quick adjust section is all the way in and when you take all the slack out of the rear section of the sling, the sling is no more than 2.5 feet long....which is VERY small. (it might be longer on the padded versions)

If you have the capability, post some pictures of your sling both on and off the weapon so we can see your setup and perhaps we'll spot what's wrong.

Yep, I have 5 of VCAS slings.  You think it's too long, just wait till you get the padded version

I've done what you did, took up all the slack, cut off and sealed the ends with a lighter.  The only other thing you can do is to mount the end further apart, or mount the rear end of the sling on a receiver sling adapter, instead of on the stock itself.

JW, covered it pretty well.

Just have one small addition; You want it loose enough to get into any of the 4 primary shooting positions without adjustment. It is not a shooting sling

Y'all are saying that the sling is sent very long and you adjust it to your body type and where you mount the sling, etc. I have a question--do you think that the sling (as it originally comes out of the box) would be long enough to use on a rifle-length hand guard, where the front attachment is going to be at or near the FSB? Is it long enough for that? (I'll be putting Daniel Defense Omega rails on the rifle whenever they get around to bringing out the rifle length; but until then, would this work?)

Also, LaRue lists their slings as Black, Tan, and Foliage. Is the Foliage actually light green "Foliage" or is it closer to OD Green? Anyone have one?

Thanks in advance.

I am the opposite.  When in full gear the sling is not long enough to transition to the support side.  I needed to add another quick detach with a small length of sling.

For most, yup it will work that way.

Their Foliage is a light to medium greysih green. It is not close to OD, not even really faded OD.
