I have a general use carbine with side sling adaptor and will have a GG&G rear sling thing for the M4 stock.  I have a longer type USGI sling that is shipped with the Colt carbines.  What advantages does a Vickers sling have over the longer USGI sling that I already have?  I have never owned a Vickers sling so I truely don't know if or what the advantages are.

Just trying to justify spending $50 on a sling that may not be that much better than the old standby.....

The Vickers is adjustable, simple right?

Now I will state why I like the adjustable slings better. The adjustment slider on the Vickers allows you , when the sling is set up right, to have the sling tensioned up and have the rifle in a good carry position that leaves your hands usable and you can still shoot standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone without hampering your tansitioning from one position to the other. Adjust it all the way out and you now have enough slack to transition shoulders and shoot weakhanded should you need to do so.

Another reason I like the adjustable 2 points is that you can adjust some extra slack into it before putting the rifle away, this little trick has helped me to be able to get the gun on and slug up a bit faster.

I have had single point, triple point and doubles. I have been searching for a sling for the last 5 years that I would like. If I were in combat wearing my rifle all the time I would use a 3 point. For general usage Ill stick with my vickers. It is that good. For general pupose it beat all the others I have tried..Ever tire to ready sling a # point ?? I am not looking anymore the vickers is being put on all my ar's.

Big + After trying the Vickers I'll never use another. It's everything I was looking for in a sling.

Just got my Vickers sling yesterday.  What a big difference.  I definately like it over any other sling I have tried in the past to include 1-point and 3-point.  Thanks for the advice.....

Just a little note, I wont drop my intel in this thread for my version but I have used a standard USGI sling for years set up to adjust like the Vickers and find it to be the best setup to use all around. For someone wanting a sling that works great for all needs off the shelf the Vickers has it where it counts and would be my first choice in a sling had I to choose.
