I am in no way affiliated with Gear Sector

After deciding to shoot in some combat competitions (with a transition to sidearm) I realized a parade sling would not do. I looked at quite a few single point slings, as I am a cheep bastard. With what I read from some “trusted” members here I chose Gear Sectors Gen1 in OD. I got it right the first time.

Jason @ Gear Sector was (is) a nice guy. He is truly interested in you, and proud of his product. He suggested The GenII in foliage green (think Army ACU). At risk of sounding like a gear queer I told him all my gear was OD and I was going to keep it like that. He said ok and told me he would send me a sample anyway, to see if I liked it.
Three days later, I had one of the finest slings made. The color is just right (again with the queer). It is not thin nylon like some of the Doo- Doo tactical slings out there. It’s also not so wide that it cuts into your neck. I’ve used this thing both with and without my gear and slippage almost nonexistent. I am a small Guy (5, 6 & 170) but it fit me well.  It also adjusted to fit one of my larger friends (not Heavy6 but big) and back with no issue. I have no worry that it will hold up in transition to sidearm, I just drop my weapon and go for Sig, the AR falls right into place. When I holster, my Rifle is right wear it should be.
Yesterday I got the sample of the foliage green GENII in the mail and He was right, I should have ordered that. There is nothing wrong with the OD but the GENII is flatter in color and just kinda looks better. If you go looking for a sling look no further than Gear Sector, they make the best out there at any price.

I have a question for you, bye the way nice review.  I just put a black Gen2 on my SBR Noveske and I seem to have a problem that you don't.  I am 5'9" and 170 and I think I have it shortened up as far as possible but it is still too long.  Hangs 3 or 4 inches lower than my BFG UDC.  How low is it hanging on you?  I agree also that Jason is a good guy to do business with.

The fit is great, I tend to like my gear tight. I do pull the sling high and it tends to hang just fine, with or without any other gear on. I dont know how it could be taken up anymore. I just tightend mine all the way down and it was too tight. sorry if this didn't help.

Just got my sling today too.  Great product and excellent service.

BUT, I agree - the thing is cinched all the way tight and is still too big - my weapon hangs about 3" too low for my tastes.  Anyway to allow for some more adjustability?

I'm 5'10" 170 and I'd like this thing tighter.

The ASP is a gret sling and it does hang low, but if you have all your gear on it hangs down just about right where it should be.  If you need a 1-point sling that doesn't hang as low, check out something like the Specter HST Sling.  Open the link below and look at the bottom 2 slings.  The one on the left is the Mount sling and it is similar to the ASP sling and it will hang the same way.  The one on the right is the HST sling.  Look at the way it attaches.  The HST sling will not hang down as low.

By the way, nice review.  The ASP's webbing is one of the most comfortable slings I have ever tried.

I just got of the phone with Jason (he called me) about how to fix my issue of being too long.  After talking with him we came to the conclusion that it is 6" too long in the torso for me.  He actually thanked me for helping him to make a better product by saying what I found.  What a guy, he deserves our business.  It is a very comfortable sling and as soon as it fits right I will love it.  Thanks Jason!

I ordered direct from Gear Sector a Gen II in Foliage Gear, and a MI #14 slot mount from Rainer Arms for my LMT 16" AR. This will be my first single point sling, and I will also throw in my 2 cents on this discussion when they arrive.

* I'm only 5'4" so I am kinda wondering if the Gear Sector is going to be too long for my Ommpa Lommpa body frame as other posters have stated.

I have their ASPV sling (mounts directly to your plate carrier/chest rig/body armor) and I used it at a week-long course. It worked flawlessly and because it is mounted to your gear, no chafing on the neck!!

So what did he tell you to do?

Actually he didn't tell me to do anything as there isn't anything you can do to shorten it up without removing some functionability.  I hope I am not speaking out of place but he said he is going to start having them built with less webbing for us smaller guys not wearing body armor.  Again, I must say what a pleasure it was to talk with Jason and have a manufacturer call a little person like myself and ask for my opinion and input.  Also, it is a darn comfortable sling.

I really need a way to get about 3-6 inches of slacked removed.  I can't really use this thing and I dropped a pretty penny on it + a bunch of accessories.

Stick, I am 5"10" and about 168lbs.  In my phone conversation with Jason we figured 12" could be taken out of my loop as it was 6.5" below my armpit when fully shortened up.

To all concerned,

Our products are designed and tested to fit a broad range of individuals both with
and without gear.

In the 2.5 years I have been producing and selling slings, 3 people in total have had
issues that concerned the amount of adjustability. All three individuals were on the
small side of the scale. We have never had a complaint regarding enough adjustability
to fit a larger man wearing full kit.

After a bit of discussion regarding the issue, we decided to remove 12" of webbing
from the adjustable portion of the ASP to accomodate smaller chested individuals.
This will allow for another 6" of adjustability on the small end without losing much
on the large end.

That said, our products already fit 99.99% of our customers right out of the box. We
hope that by removing 12" we will be able to claim 100% fitment across the board.

I hate being one of the 3 that caused the trouble.  Truth is if one person in 1,000,000 had a problem with something it would be me.  I truly feel sorry for those that have had to deal with me.  To those that are willing to continue to deal with me, I thank you!
