What are your opinions on the most comfortable single point sling...I know this is a Newbie question and I know where the search button is and use it frequentlyhanksK9

i dunno about commercial ones...but I made my own for about $5 and it's pretty dang comfy....it's also a convertible 1pt to 2pt sling.  Had most of the stuff just lying around.  I looked at a few pictures of it and figured out how it was made.  It's not without it's downfalls but I just use it for carrying the rifle around at the range, not for training or clearing a building or anything.

K9popo,

Hey there, fellow Utahn here. Take a look at my site, I think you'll find my slings very versatile and comfortable.

BTW, I offer LE discounts, and it looks like you are LE, am I correct? Which Dept do you work for?

Thanks for your advise,

I work a busy district, and my AR15 comes out multiple times a week.  The only single point sling that I'll use is the one by Gear Sector.  It uses a design that gets rid of the slide that other single point slings have, and its 1" tubular webbing doesn't kink or twist, which is nice when I'm jumping out of my cruiser and running towards a shots fired call and don't have the time to adjust things.

As an instructor for my department and state, I've used just about everything on the market, and if something seems good, I'll track it down and use it.  I've run into nothing that beats out the Gear Sector sling (or even cloes close).

A nice bonus is that the same sling can be used for both my shotgun and AR15, and I can switch it back and forth between them. Each weapon is setup with its own stock stub, and I simply click the sling into the weapon I need, which also works well for use on the team as we can swap out AR15/12 gauge/ 37 or 40mm weapons (or anything else), without replacing the slings.

IM or email me if you have any questions.  As for posting your department, don't do it.  There are people on this board that will save your info and try to use it against you later.  The internet is NOT cop friendly.

Stay Safe.

I am a big fan of the Giles sling from The Wilderness. So when I went with a single point, I went with The Wilderness again. Quality kit. Mounts to my KAC endplate mount.

Check them out at thewilderness.com

My honest opinion...

Based upon the reviews posted above I purchased a Gear Selector single point sling - it was a waste of money.

Not sure what the advantage of a single point is but unless you are on guard duty and are just going to stand there...a single point just gets in the way.

I don't know - maybe I am asking too much but honestly I feel the single point is a waste unless you are just going to stand there. When you move the single point places your rifle in the worst position I can think of.

PS - I am an average 195# guy but no matter how tight or loose I adjust the harness I look like I have gained 35#s when I wear the damn thing!

Single point slings are NOT good all-purpose, general use slings, but they do have a place.

It really just depends what you are going to need to do. I don't use a single point "most" of the time, but when I do use one, nothing will substitute.

I think the real problem is, some people buy a single point sling thinking they just needed a sling, but really they wanted something to hold their weapon when they aren't holding it (for the most part). The single point is very limiting for all purpose use.

A 2-point is much better for the average person.

Understanding the different advantages and uses for each different type of sling is important, that way, you get what you need.

Or you could just buy one of my slings and let the sling comform to you.

You openly admit you have no idea what the advantage of the single point sling
is, hence I would wager you have never used one, nor do you require the benefits
provided by one.

- it was a waste of money.

If you were to purchase a hammer, and grip the metallic end with your hand and
attempt to pound a nail in with the long narrow end, you would come to the same
obvious conclusion -- it was a waste of money.

A sling, just like a hammer is a tool. If not properly armed with the knowledge of
how the tool functions or its intended use, you will always come to the same conclusion.

Remeber folks, always use the right tool for the job.

That said, you are more than welcome to return your purchase for a refund. Shoot
us an email with your purchase order number and we will provide an RMA.

What about it did you not like?

Edit: I just realized it appears that sling has no elactic.

Here is one I tired for a few minutes that I think I will be going with myself:

What sling is that in the above post?  The one with the elastic.  I have been looking for a sling like that.  Thanks.

a single point sling is for someone who is ACTIVELY using their rifles.  It aids in weapon retention while still giving the operator maximum freedom of movement with his weapon.

JTrusty - thanks for the follow-up.

Please allow me to offer additional details regarding my original post.

1) The sling is top quality and offers a good amount of bang for the buck - no complaints there!

2) When I stated that it "was a waste of money" I should have continued on by saying that it was a waste since I really didn’t know what type of sling (one, two, or three point) or why I wanted a particular one. The waste of money can be directly attributed to my lack of knowledge and in no way reflects upon the quality of your product.

3) I sincerely appreciate your generous offer regarding the return of the sling but I wish to keep it since I feel it is a fine example of a single point sling. Thank you.

Fellas - I spent tons of time researching every single part of my latest build but failed in one area - the sling. It has been brought to my attention that different types of slings serve very different purposes. I do not have the knowledge to accurately list which sling would be best for such purpose but I guess the best way to learn is to experience them first hand.

Looks like I will try a two point sling next. I will keep the quick disconnect of my single point in place just in case I wish to swap back and forth for different purposes. Sound like a plan?

Once again - I apologize if my post sounded like I was calling your sling a waste of money - that was not my intent. Your sling is of fine quality and even with my limited knowledge I still consider it the best single point system in overall value.

Your run a fine business and I can only wish that more manufactures stood behind their product such as you.

Respectfully submitted - Buzz
