How tight are the castle nuts supposed to be, i just destroyed a spanner wrench trying to get the castle nut free on my RRA.  Felt like the wrench was bending side to side somewhat so i made sure i was putting straight pressure on it and after a couple tries ended up ripping the stud that slips into the notch of the nut off of the wrench.

Edit: and yeah I was turning it the correct direction.

The nut could have loctite on it.  Heat is with propane or Mapp and try again, or cut it off with a Dremel and buy a new castle nut if you buggered it up.

Just a word of caution, using a dremel near a receiver can be a very, very bad idea.  Just my own personal experience.

Might want to take a small flat screwdriver and put it up against the cuts in the nut.  Give it a few whacks with a hammer and try.
Is it staked?
Sounds like somebody got happy with some red or green (God forbid) LocTite.

I bought it brand new a month ago...so however they normally come from the factory.

I had the exact same problem, so I contacted Rock River.
They told me that they do use a thread sealant, and to use a heat gun to soften it up.
That worked just fine.

I did the exact same thing on a RRA lower when attempting to remove their castle nut to replace with better stock! They use locktite rather than stake their NUTS!!!This company knows more shortcuts then my Garmin navigator GPS...
