| Currently I'm using the biggest maglite for work (6 D cell batteries) and I'm wanting to get something smaller, possibly brighter and definitely more lightweight. What other lights should I look at that are comparable, or even brighter?? I'm assuming it would be something LED, but I didn't know how to compare the two different kinds of lights. |

Look at the streamlight stinger, I use it at work, it's been great. Otherwise you can't go wrong with a Surefire either. I personally don't care much for LED lights, as I haven't seen one yet that has the range a normal light does. And LED light is not very pleasant to work by in tight quarters, IMHO. Hope this helps |

I think a Surefire G2 or 6p would fit the bill nicely. The G2 goes for $35 and under and the 6P is around $50. They both put out 65 lumens for 1 hour which is plenty bright enough to temporarily blind a suspect and has enough throw to light up a good sized room. There are other lights that are bighter but will cost a little over $100. I would contact Calvin from Brightflashlights here in the Industry section, he knows everything about lights and would be able to tell you the best light to get for your intended purpose. Plus he has the best prices and customer service you will find. heres a link to Brightflashlights forum |
Yeah, what he said! -Hershey |
I just got a Surefire U2 Ultra:![]() Sweeeeeet light. Worth the money. Check eBay. |

I have 3 surefires. All from BrightFlashlights (I think). One of the nice things is that calvin has soo many options/upgrades available too. Pressure switches, clickie tailcaps, filters, turbo heads, LED upgrades, high-output lamps, 6-9V upgrades, mounts, etc. -Hershey |

Recently bought a "Borealis". It's the brightest handheld flashlight I've ever seen with the exception of HIDs and uber-expensive spotlights. Check it out here: www.blackbearflashlights.com/ or just search for "borealis" on this site. |
The 6V Gladius uses an LED and has more output and range than the comparable P60 bulb using Surefires like the G2, 6P, etc. You can alter the output for close range work too. |

Streamlight Singer is what you want. The Surefires are good, but we beat the Stingers to death at the refinery that I work in and they last a long time. Surefire has a good repotation and rightly so, I have a bunc of them, but the Stinger excells for what you are looking for. 77Bronc |
