Whats the best way to attach a vertical grip without going with a 4 rail handguard?  Anything out there that is good and solid or am I forced to spend the extra money? h
Thanks

you can get a little rail that mounts to your plastic hand guards.

but why go grip?  plan to mount a light or laser?
if not i would keep it simple and not put it on.

I don't know if it will work with glacier guards, but GG&G sell a length of rail that will mount to regular hanguards.

Don't recall what they cost.

IIRC there is a VFG that attaches directly to the bbl. But I don't remember where I saw it.

Unless there is something newer, or better, for just a foregrip, I'd spring for the sure-fire forearm.

Not planing on a light or a laser right now - pehaps a light later - but I can't afford the full 4 rail handguards.  And I want the grip because I can shoot alot better with them.

Oh, and thanks for the suggestions guys - I'm gonna go search them now.  Anybody actually set up like this?

I had the GG&G rail.
I wanted to experiment with the VFG and see if I was really gonna like it, or not, before I invested in a rail.

The thing I didn't like about it was that I tended to pull the hanguards apart, not off, but apart just a little. I ended up with a large rubber band, and then the strap from a 3-point sling around the nose of the hanguards.

Of course, after adding the M4 HGs, then rail and VFG, and the 3 pt sling, that little carbine has ended up with it's factory carbine HGs back on. The circle has closed, and it's still my favorite AR.
The only difference between now, and when I brought her home is the stock. Ditched the A2 stock (too long) and after the ban she finally wore a tele-stock.

I don't have first hand experience but a VFG on a non-FF HG seems like a POI shift problem waiting to happen!

no different than a sling, or your hand on the handguards..

I recently added a GG&G Under the Forearm Rail on my lower M4 handguard and a GG&G Vertical Pistol Grip. Like you I didn't want or need a quad rail system. Only time will tell if it holds up for the duration. It seems solid enough, but of course it's nothing compared to the qualtiy manufactured quad rail forearms that are availiable. I spoke with Steve at Adcofirearms before purchasing and he said a local PD has the same set up and no returns or complaints. I followed it up with a Officer from that department and he concurred no problems. If I was to do it over again though I would just go ahead and do a Knight Armament or Daniel Defense quad rail and be done with it even though I have no use the other 3 rails.

Doesn't somebody make a VFG that attaches through the holes in the standard HGs?

Rail-mount VFG on a strip of rail may be more cost-effective in the long run as you could re-use the grip if you did decided you needed to mount it to a rail.

You could try a cheaper alternative, like Fobus Railed handguards. There cheap and effecient enough to hold a forward grip or light. I wouldnt rely on them for optics but for everything else, they work.
