I am looking for a source for the flat hook that goes on a rifle sling. I am sorry but I don't know if that is the proper name, but it is a type of hook, about a sling's width, and with a long lip that is bent over so the hook is almost flat. It is the same hook that goes on the butt end of the M1 Garand sling, and used to be on the canvas sling that was used on the MP5 back in the 90's. I hope this description doesn't sound as lame to you as it does to me. I viewed the STRAPWORKS website and didn't see quite what I'm looking for. Anybody got any ideas where I could get a couple of these hooks? Thanks! |

You're desribing two entirely different critters. The one form the Garand is the one Jason linked to. The MP5 hook is (oddly enough) referred to as an HK hook. They are not the same at all. There are usually several people selling them in the EE. You need to figure out which type you actually want, as they attach differently and really cannot be used alternately in many cases. |

Yes! that's the one. Thanks Jtrusty. I saved that link. My old MP5 sling had these hooks on the buttstock end, which snapped onto a sling swivel imbedded in the buttstock . It was a green canvas sling, not nylon like everyone uses today. That was about 10 years ago, so maybe they've changed them since then, but that is what was used, I know it. Thanks for the help, everyone. |

The US clip attachment can be used in some sling points that will accept the HK hooks. Some sling tabs that are slotted also have an enlarged hole on the ends that will accept the HK hook. Some do not, and the HK hook will have difficulty beign attached (or staying attached). IMO, the HK hooks suck anyway and you're better off with the clip. ETA: It sounds like you had a GI sling on an HK weapon. Certainly not in the realm of the weird, but still unusual. That's where the confusion came in. |
