Well I purchasedone and got it today along with my SureFire light. Bu the VFG wont fit the bottom part of my SIR. It doesnt look like it was cut right becasue only one side of the grip will fit in properly. Anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions? Or just send it back and get a different one.

tagged for the "your rail is out of spec" responses.

I heard if you file it, it'll fit.

I'll let someone else jump in

Mine was tight as hell when I first tried to put it on. After about 45 minutes of wiggling, pushing, and pulling, I finally got it to slide down on the rail. I don't think I'll ever be able to get it off.

It was certainly a pain in the ass.

Did you use the 4 ties included to wedge the buttons down? Try that and a rubber mallet before you cut/file on it.

I not sure if this will definetly work for you but I filed the inside of the tabs down some and now mine fits pretty good

The line usually goes what ARMS sells to the civilian market is the ones that failed .mil acceptance.
TD is a sacred cow around here.

Shit now I got it stuck on the bottom rail and can not get it off of there. Damn I didnt know it was going to be this much of a hassle to put a VFG on or I wouldn't have messed with it. Anyone have any suggestions? Besides taking a saw to it.

Look at your grip in the same manner as the picture:

File the inside, top edge corners.

Sell the SIR and get a rail that won't give you problems (LaRue, Daniel Defense, KAC...)

Or go the cheaper route and buy a VFG that won't give you problems.

See what I mean about the sacred cow?

Not everyone is impressed with the SIR, and the "in spec" comments are about run out as well.

If you like the TD-FVG, modify it to fit.  If you don't like it that much, or are afraid to spend a couple minutes with a file/ sandpaper, than get a different rail.  The last of the obvious answers is to grab a new grip.

I simply beat my TD VFG into place, and it doesn't dream of moving.

I did when I had a SIR, in fact I used ARMS #23 grip.   It fit the SIR like a glove, no problems at all.   Unfortunately it didn't solve the SIR's:
Wobbly plastic lower forend ,
Raised optic platform ,
Buis incompatibilities ,
Front-end heaviness compared to other rails
Expensive price compared to other rails

Getting another rail system in order to fit this particular grip is pretty drastic, unless minor filing on plastic is an intimidating thought.

Well worth the 15 minute effort.

What's your point. You had other issues besides a VFG issue. You had issues with the design. The OP, as far as we know from his posts, does not. Why throw the baby out with the bathwater? Doesn't make sense. If he's happy with the rail, why buy a new $300 rail because a $60 VFG doesn't fit it? That fails the logic test.

Yeah I took a file and rubber mallet to it and got it to work. Just a shame tha tit doenst just slode on there like a normal grip should.
