Search turned up nothing.  Any experience with the GG&G Bi-Pod?  Anyone held or seen it?  From the website it looks well made and can me connected to a rail easily, but would like some feedback before I take the plunge.

i like my GG&G bipod..direct thumb screw attachment to pic rails, depress lever to pull each leg in position (no annoying 'twang'), optional swivel top i think, rock solid design ... downside ---> GG&G's customer service with 30 day delivery extending to 90 days and multiple broken promises

It's light, it's strong, it's well made, and it attaches to a rail easily. I have the swivel version, and you should be aware that there is no locking option - so you have to hold your gun in place while sighting and shooting. There is some friction in the swivel, however, and I haven't had my Dissy flop over or anything.

I like mine. It works much better on an AR fore-end than a Harris, I think. I leave my Harris on my .300WM AICS.

As for GG&G service, I had mine 4 days after I placed the order. I guess service levels vary from person to person...

I just received my GG&G bipod from a Jan. 05 backorder. It was the wrong part. I tried to get them to send me the correct bipod and I would send mine back at the same time. I got a big fat "NO", until they got back the part. ***** the "I'm the office manager", attempts to impersonate David Spade from the Capital One commercials.

GG&G customer service? Don't ask them, they're wondering too. There's other alternatives out there from companies that appreciates/respects their customers. Why give it to these ? You'll probably get better service from Botach.

This was my 2nd and last order from them. They screwed up the last one, too - and after the same broken promises of delivery dates they gave to IL.shooter. Shame on me on this one, I'm done with them.

77Bronc - sorry for the hijack. Just wanted to pass along personal experiences if you're going direct. Try going with a reputable dealer if you can find one that has them in stock.

The bipod itself is very nice and solid as stated above. I really like it. Have you checked the prices? They're spendy.

Standard - $167.90
Standard swivel - $174.00
HD Standard - $182.00
HD swivel - $204.00

New-argirl and I have one each. She got hers before the price went up about $10. I have several Harris bi-pods to compare, but I dont have one of the new Tango Down bi-pods. There's some things I like about the Harris + throw lever design, some I like about the GG&G. The GG&G is noticably lighter than the Harris, and sits a little higher. The notched version of the Harris bipod is probably easier to adjust height while shooting/prone than the GG&G. As spendy as the GG&G looks, their model is less expensive than a Harris + LaRue or ARMS throw lever. One thing we seem to dislike about the GG&G is that there is no control over the tension of the swivel. And the swivel is pretty loose in my opinion. There is some friction, but when you rest the weight of a 7lb+ rifle, it can be a little loose. We have had problems with our (extremely expensive) rifles flopping over unless we propped the gun on something. I appreciate the pod-locks on my harris bipods a lot more now. When shooting from the bench or prone, I will get the rifle level and tighten the pod lock. Then all I have to do is adjust my height, usually with my hand on the stock, or with a bean/sand/bag. When I try this same thing with the GG&G, I have to watch continue to hold the rifle steady for movement left to right because the swivel is somewhat loose.

I called GG&G this week to ask them if I could tighten the swivel any. They told me no, that it was preadjusted and that it was designed for you to be in control of the rifle. Something like this. When I said, so that means there is no way to control the tension, and they said no again, I just said OK. To me it sounded more like an excuse, ot them telling me I dont know how to hold the rifle or shoot than just acknowledgin that some people might preffer a little tighter swivel.

None of this means I dont like the bi-pod. I do. New-argirl has had her GG&G bi-pod for at least a few months longer than I have. So I knew all of this going in. when I got my MRP, I wanted a bi-pod and new that I would buy the GG&G. So I still liked it enough to get one and would easily recommend them to others so long as they know the ups and downs. Still think they should incorporate a tension control though...

PS, I was told (by GG&G) that I wouldnt need the heavy duty version. It was beefed up for use on .50's etc. Here's a pic of new-argirls Recce rifle with the bipod.

Well,

This is not the first I have heard of the poor customer service at GG&G.  When comparing the cost of a Harris and mount, the GG&G is in the ball park.

But the Customer Service, I am not sure I want to go through with it.  Especially when there are other great dealers are out there.

Anyway thanks for the feedback.
