| I am looking for a good, solid safe. Hopefully one that is fire proof, or at least fire resistant. I'd like to store 5 to 7 firearms and some paperwork. Fire resistant kinda scares me a little bit. I am thinking about how the contents will look after a 1 hour long house fire. |

Watch out, Fire resistance are rated differently by each manufacturer. I have a low end Liberty safe and its fire rating is equal to other brands high line. Liberty safes have twice the fire resistant material than it's compeditors. But to really answer your question, the perfect safe is a safe that with store twice as many guns as you own now. You do not want to buy a safe according to how many guns you have now, or you will be looking for a new safe in 6 months. That is my experience. AKARFAN |

I think Wally World used to sell a small Sentry w/ fire resistance. Was a few hundred bucks as I recall. A lot of people here picked them up. Sam's also has a Winchester safe that was pretty reasonable. I bought a champion at a gun show that I'm very happy with. Any safe is better than no safe. |

I went with a large Canon for many reasons: - lifetime warranty - if a thief F's it up trying (or succeeding) in breaking in, they do on-site repairs free - you will fill that safe with stuff quickly, you can't buy too big - very heavy safe for the size = thicker steel - fire resistance - local purchase and cheap $100 delivery |
