I was just wondering if anyone knows of a hard case that you actually remove the upper from the lower and put them "over and under' each other in the case... My digital camera isn't working right now so I can't really show you what I mean... I'm not too familiar with cases so I don't know how newbish this question is... I'm just getting too sick of my current case.

There was a thread ages ago abouta Sears toolbox that was just big enough to hold a broken down AR. IIRC, it was yellow and black and just fit the two components, one on top of the other, by a very thin margin. Very low profile if that's what you're looking for and quite cheap if I recall...maybe 20-30 buckos.

Here is the one I got for my M4 and it's perfect. It doesn't look like a "Guncase" either

Kikilee, Does this case hold JUST the M4 or does it also have room for an optic and mount. Do you have any pics of your setup in the case?

I saw a case just like you are talking about on www.militarymorons.com called the MM4 case made by a guy out in Utah at Reccegear.   It has molle webbing and was completely custom built.  You can contact Military Morons about the case.

There is room for optics. The case measurements should give you some idea. I will get some pics posted. In the mean time cut out a piece of cardboard 26 1/4" x 13" , break down your M4 and see if it fits. I bet it will even with the optics. as far as the Reccegear case I believe it was a soft case.

Thanks Kikilee for getting back to me on that. I'll do that with the cardboard and you're right about the MM4 case on Military Morons, it is a soft case. I'll be on the lookout for those pics and thanks again.

We have some smaller size Tac-Force cases that fit that purpoise.  Depending a bit on the barrel length of your upper, the 22" case and the 26" case will work.   The cases have two pockets, one longer than the other (the case size is a reference to the longer pocket).

The only irritation on them is if your sling is not a quick detach.  My Stag Arms M4gery with a 16" barrel plus the flash hider will cram into the 26" case with the upper going in the larger compartment diagonally and the lower with some mags fitting in the secondary compartment.   The M4gery with the CMMG M4 upper (14.4" barrel plus long flash hider to make 16.1" total) fits no problem.

We don't have any size in between 26" and 33" so if you have a longer gun, you might want to start taking some measurements.   The next increment is 36" then 40", 42" and 46".   Colors are black and OD green with tan available in 36", 42" and 46".

Here are a couple of pictures of my case. I am going to get some foam hot wire cut in the pattern of the gun. This is a great hard case.
