Anyone out there who has used one of the Harris bi-pod adapters that might care to comment on how well this might work on a front sling mount that is attached to a free float handguard tube?  Would appreciate the advice, as may not always use this upper on the benchrest, and trying to sort our best options for varmint with bi-pod.

dont exactly know what adapter you are talking about but i have  a round free float tube with the sling stud in one of the vents and it has the backing plate which it threads into and holds it inplace.

i mount my bipod to this stud and the only bad thing about it is that if the ff tube is off center so is your bipod.

Thanks for the response, I may go the route you have described. Harris makes an adapter specifically for the AR-15, and it appears to attach directly to the front sling swivel, I can't tell from the pictures if it only works on a barrel mount or if it also works on a tube mounted front sling swivel,so I was looking for some info. Did you add the swivel stud with backing plate to your tube? If so, where is a good place to buy?

- Harris bipods are designed to attach to Uncle Mike's-style sling swivels.

- Harris makes an AR15-specific mount that you install through one of the vent holes in the standard A2 handguards and provides a sling swivel that you can attach the bipod to.

- If you have a free-float tube then there is no reason to use the AR15-specific mount that is designed to work with the regular A2 handguards.  Just get a regular Uncle Mikes sling swivel and put a washer on the back side of the tube.
