Hey all i was reading a few posts about the CQB slings so i decided to check out there site. well you guys sold me, now im stuck choosing between the hst or the mout. the mout looks just like the hst with the exception of the buckle that detaches the sling from the weapon without removal of the sling from your self. can i get some opinions from CQB owners?

Get the MOUT. It's a hell of a lot easier to put on and take off. Probably safer, too, since you don't need to manuever the weapon while doing so. It makes it much easier when you say "Try my weapon". And, like they say, if it does come loose there isn't 4 feet of webbing trailing behind you.

However, that said, I'm not a fan of side-release buckles or their webbing attachments. They are not very secure and somewhat bulky. You can accomplish the same thing with an HK snap-hook in a much more secure and space efficient manner. If you want very quick release, a snap-shackle (sailing hardware), as used on the Chalker sling, is still a lot smaller and more secure.

1.25" or even 1.5" webbing fits through HK hooks and snap-shackles no problem. You can buy some webbing and a tri-glide from CQB Sol. and just build a simple loop of webbing. Throw your attachment of choice on there and you are done.

I say get the HSTS.

With the MOUT, the extra attaching hardware means the gun hangs too low if you adjust the loop so it is easy to slip on. My opinion, as one who owns both...

MOUT -- properly adjusted it is stellar......also very easy to get the weapon off...really like this feature.

I have read alot of reviews on this too.  They say that the extra hardware hangs the weapon too low. To use at the correct length, the loop is too small and it is very uncomfortable to use.  Also, the extra clips/buckles are very easy to crack if crushed or used hard.  With the regular nylon their is no problem.

I like my sling, it attaches directly to the MAgpul sling plate.

Here are some pictures of my slings with ar15 and 870.

Shotgun: Remington 870 with some goodies. Here is the GG&G mount.

Uh, it did sound like that didn't it......no I meant to say that I had the same reservations but I bought the sling on the firing line so I had the dealer {C4iGrant} and his minions {SlimHazy and bvmjethead} to help me adjust it while it was on me....

It took us three sets of hands to get it "just right".....

It's a small circle over my head, but it is well adjusted now......

That's my issue - to get the carbine to hang where I want it, the loop gets so small it's a pin to put on over winter gear.  A t-shirt in the living room, no problem.  Add body armor and a fleece jacket and I am in trouble...

I'd go back to the HSTS, but I bought a gas Buster CH and went with the GRSC sling plate to mount it.  I shorterned up the MOUT attachment as much as I could.  It's workable, but I prefer the HSTS on my M4gery. [:)]

Pic for the hell of it:

They are hellaciously busy with the Iraq thing and all, so be patient.  There was a thread on this a while ago - this is not it, but you get the idea:

Did you ask them?

From their site:

01-19-04:  Backorders & Growth Sitrep
In the past year we've experienced quite a bit of growth here at CQB Solutions. And, until recently, we've been able to manage that growth effectively. However, we're currently experiencing what can only be described as explosive growth. Large scale military unit orders are now coming in so fast and frequently that we're doing all we can not to become totally overwhelmed.

We are, however, addressing the issue. In the past month alone we've doubled our production staff, doubled our production floor space, purchased many thousands of dollars worth of new machinery and applied an large amount of overtime in order to meet production commitments. Unfortunately, in some cases, these measures have not been enough to maintain the fast delivery times we've become so well known for and some orders have been unavoidably backordered.

Every order is critically, and equally, important to us. Whether it is a single unit order, or a 1000 unit order, please understand that we are doing everything possible to get your gear to you as quickly as possible. This issue will resolve itself very soon. In the meantime, we beg your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

CQB Solutions, Inc. Management Staff

What exactly is the difference between the MOUT and the HST? I don't see enough of a difference to matter much.

The HSTS is basically a big loop of webbing.  The QD buckle is in the loop.

The MOUT attaches with a lenght of 1" webbing.  Then there is a QD buckle attached to that.  Then the big loop of webbing attaches to the QD buckle.  This attachement assembly moves the loop 3-6" away from the mounting plate.  Therefore, the same sized loop will hang the gun 3-6" lower.  If you look at the pic I posted I have snugged up the 1" webbing as much as possible to minimize this and I'm still not happy with the set up.

Plus the cheesy QD buckle is supporting the entire weght of the gun, where with the HSTS it only supports half.  This can be a valid concern when you have a 79 cent buckle supporting a $3,000 rifle.

The MOUT does allow the ability to detach the rifle and still keep the sling on.  Why you would need this feature is debatable.  You could also buy several mounts and have just one loop portion and save a few bucks, but that is not the Arfcom way [;)]

I've decided on a MOUT.

Just purchased an HST sling.  Like the QDness of the MOUT but I got the same thing using HK snap hook with the HST, less likely to break than an ERB supporting the entire weight.  MOUT adjustment issues were also a concern.  I don't want the firearm dropping further than it has to and I don't want to adjust it so small it is hard to take on & off.  Also like that the attachment point on the rifle is low and completely out of the way of the CH w/ HK snap hook.

Of course the HK snap hook setup is going to be noisier, ideally I wanted an HST w/ QD sling swivel but that I know that is a lot more expensive and I've been having a hard time finding it.  I'm curious to see if I can create something that will quiet the HK hook setup.
