Perhaps if you asked this question in the "tactical gear" forum (in The Armory board) you'd get more responses...

I'm not sure of the quality, but they are half what Blackhawk, Eagle, and everyone else asks for theirs.  Just remember, you get what you pay for.  The extra Cost for a Eagle or a SOE vest is usually well worth it.

My suggestion for you, if you want something is made well but not alot of money, is to look on Ebay and find a surplus LBV-88. You will spend about $40-$50 on a good condition used vest and it will alst alot better than anything new in that price range. I always recommend that you NOT spend your money on cheap nylon, for all you will end up with is a pile of cheap nylon.

Spend the extra $$ up front and get a decent vest...you won't regret it in the long run [;)]

The Tactical Tailor split-front modular assault vest is only $55 if you buy it stripped, and then you can add pockets/pouches as you can afford them and as you decide what you need.

You can buy it at Lightfighter or direct from Tactical Tailor; same price either place.

Ditto Lightfighter's suggestion. I think you get the most bang for your buck there.

Avoid Blackhawk, it's made in Vietnam.

So is Mohawk carpet, LL Bean and about 8000 other major brands in your home [;)].

I've seen the BHI quality come up in the last 6-8mos...the STRIKE gear is SOLID. Definately easier to obtain and less costly than some of the custom gear.

If you want a LBV versus a tac vest, the cheapest/best route is to find a USGI enhanced LBV.  The mag pockets are orientated at a slant and the vest material is mesh to keep you cooler.  They are hard to find though, generally the USGI LBV's that one comes across are the standard versions with straight up and down mag pouches and are constructed entirely of canvas.  Also make sure you get a good, stiff pistol belt to use with it, since it won't stay put otherwise and will sag making it uncomfortable to wear.  The london bridge belt that lightfighter sells is a good choice.

The USGI LBV's are not of the most durable construction though, so if you want something that will hold up to a lot of abuse, you will have to spend some money.
