Simple question

Would it be better to mount it in front of or behind the scope?

Generally on the scope.

In front of if the choice is in front or behind. Not enough room in the eye relief area for a red dot, IMO.

what scope and what purpose?

if the dot is bright enough, I prefer it as far forward as your visual acuity allows so as to have as much peripheral view as possible

Here's a Trijicon RMR RDS in a 45-degree offset LaRue mount, attached to a Bushnell optic on a LaRue OBR 762

Assembly is complete, I mounted it forward of the scope on a Daniel defense one o'clock mount.

It will be a starting point and may move forward / backward after I run it.

I will snap some pics later and post so you can see the set up

I prefer where BUIS would be so behind, I see merit if you can post it midway along scope, in front works also.
But behind I think aids finding dot faster when you roll gun in to pick it up.

45 offsets the only way to go for back up mini red dot if you ask me.

Can't get pic to post.  I was using Photobucket before but all of my posted pic have "gone dark."  Searching for a free replacement for web hosting.

This is my 45 degree offset Deltapoint Pro.  It is on a 45 degree rail slot so that it is directly over the bore when the rifle is rotated.

Thanks.  Flickr is not a good substitute.

Will be running this set up this week end while at the cabin.

Do you have any issues finding the dot when initially rotating the rifle?

For photos I am also using imgur
