Hey guys I am looking at buying a Millett  DMS 1-6X24 BCR-1 .233 MBLK from Midway, they have a 50% discount so the price looks good, has anyone ever used this sight?
I am going hog hunting and was recommended by a buddy who saw it on line.

Midway is a sketchy outfit according to some.  I've never ordered from them, so I can't be helpful there.

As far as the DMS goes:

1.  It's big.

2. It's heavy.

3. It has mushy turrets.

4. It has weak illumination.

5. It's glass quality is pretty low.

You can do better; what's your price range?

Midway USA? It's one of the biggest gun parts dealers out there. Their shipping costs are sometimes a bit much, but I've ordered tons of stuff from them, with no issues ever.

Now as for the scope, I agree. Every Millett scope I've had has been heavy (very heavy), mushy turrets and at best, mediocre glass.

If money is an issue, I'd look more towards Primary Arms 1-6 or the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6

This.  Both of those are great bang for the buck values in s 1x6.

If you want more magnification you could try Primary Arms'  SFP 1x8 at $300 something. Mixed reviews. The Vortex is lifetime warranty.

All of them (Millet, Vortex, both PA) are made in the same Chinese factory.

The OEM is Optisan.

Sure, but different product lines from different companies specing different optics with different QC standards. Similar but different. I've heard of far fewer problems about PA and especially few about the Strike Eagle vs the Millet.  Japanese stuff is almost always better, then American and European. And the prices usually reflect as much though there are bargains at every price bracket. Never held a Millet but I own a Strike Eagle 1x6 and it's a steal. The Chinese stuff is getting better and they can produce better quality than many imagine if their feet are held to the fire.

It will be interesting to see what they are producing five years from now. I'm old enough to remember when Made in Japan was synonymous with trash and evoked a snide snicker when it was mentioned. No more. The Chinese seem to be on the same trajectory. We'll see.

I have both Millett and Vortex scopes. They may be made in the same Chinese factory yes, but the glass of the Vortex is far better. Hell, the Crossfire 4-12 is much brighter and clearer than the Millett 4-16 and 6-24 "Tactical" long range line of optics.

So what you are saying for 170.00 I can do better?

For $170. I would rock a Weaver V3. But I maybe in the minority as it isn't "operator" enough for some. Good scope, though.

Yep. That's the upshot. If you're like most you'll replace the crap optic down the road and buy a better one. Skip the middle step and save some money.

The Strike Eagle is a keeper for being a bargain optic.

I found this

I've got a Millett TRS1 on my varmint rig.  It's for blasting prairie dogs so I wasn't looking to drop big money just to shoot them.  It is a heavy scope and the turrets aren't perfectly crisp, but for the money I have been happy enough.  Glass is decent I was able to nail a prairie dog at 500 yards this year, so I'm happy enough.

I've got a friend that really loves his vortex scopes as well, though I haven't shot one yet.

Did someone say Midway was sketchy?

A close friend of mine has that Millet. Just asked how it was doing and he said great. Used it on both 223 and 300BLK

What I said was that *some* think they are [sketchy], and a cursory search of arfcom (and google) does reveal a level of dissatisfaction by *some* with Midway. Nothing more/nothing less. Carry on.
