I have an 18" barrel with a YHM brake. Firing 62-grain loads packed by FN.

Just got my 1-6 PST Gen II don't know really where to start. Links would be appreciated.

Vortex probably recommends 100 yards for that optic. I'd go with it unless you have good reason not to.

Typically you will zero a magnified scope at 100 yds. It should have range lines under the reticle for your holdovers at longer ranges. Finding a chart of your trajectory with the 100 yd zero will be beneficial. Using the 1X setting for close ranges will have the POI a little lower than the POA. You can refer to the chart to see exactly how much at what range if you think you need precision for the close-range shots.

He said 'PROBABLY recommends.'

Look it up. If they don't, and you have options, then I'd zero at 50yd and see what I get at 100, 200, and 300yd. Then I'd adjust it for 300yd and shoot all the distances again. See which trajectory you like better and go with that.

Normally I'd say 100yd for magnified, even on an AR, but maybe not with a 1-6x. If there's a ballistic reticle, then use Vortex's tool for that. It'll tell you zero and what your drop at each tick mark is at (at probably 6x).

50 yards for the irons.
100 yards for that optic.

Depending on what you want, you can do the usual 100 yards or the 300 yard zero. Personally i like to zero it ~ 2 inches high at 100 yards, making the trajectory flatter and kind of making the zero around 200 yards.

Why wouldn't you just zero at 200 yards rather than 2 inches high at 100 yards? I wouldn't want a "kind of" zero.

Strelok has both the VMR-2 MOA and MRAD reticles as they are the same as the Razor Gen II. Plug in your numbers and see which drops you like better.
