| At what distance does an object appear to be exactly half sized? |
|
Trick question. An object will always be its normal size.
The image size may increase or decrease in relationship to magnification. An object at 4x will have an image twice the size that it would be at 2x. A 9x scope will have an image that is half the 9x size when the scope is dialed down to 4.5x. Bear in mind that scope rated magnification is never exactly what is on the magnification ring, however. Those are merely approximations. If you are referencing distance, the image will appear to be half the apparent size when the distance is doubled, provided the magnification remains exactly the same. |
