Hi guys had a quick question. Im kinda new to these small micro red dots. I did a budget build and topped it off with a Vortex Sparc AR. I noticed while looking at the ocular on med to high settings I can see the emitter point. Its at the 4 o'clock position of the front post. Seem kinda odd
didn't know if this is normal or possible qc issue.

Yes... you are experiencing "paralysis by analysis"
Your focus should be on the target..look "thru" the red dot....

When your doing it right, you will barely see the red dot's housing......

Turn down the intensity...if it's too bright it'll obliterate your intended target.  The red dot should just be visible to allow your eye to pick it up.

Wasn't asking about the housing. Yes I use the red dot at a lower setting. All I wanted to know was is the diode supposed to be visible from my view point on the red dots glass.

What he was saying was turn it down so that you can barely see it using both eyes open and focusing on the target not the dot. His comment about the housing is how it should be if you are properly focusing on the target instead of the dot.

Like I said I do know how to use the red dot. All I wanted to know was about the diode visible on the glass. Simple question and I get responses aiming tips which I already know, same deal like on a pistols front sight. Nevermind I'll just email the manufacturer.

If you knew all this, you would not have had to ask... just sayin...

If you stare into any red dot, you'll see the emitter.. Primary Arms.. Aimpoint, ect.

All I asked was a question about the emitter reflecting on the glass. Not how to aim with, snark remarks or ppl commenting to reinforce them.

Does it go away when the dot is turned down?

On a RDS the diode emission will be visible to you, from the diode itself. The diode is actually directed to the ocular glass. The beam then bounces off that lens to the objective glass. At higher settings you will defiantly notice it....However, my MRO and the T-1 is had never show the dot like that. That may definitely be a QA issue. Maybe the coating they used.

I have only 2 red dots. One's very cheap (gag gift price) and the other not so cheap (to me) but considered Chicom junk by some. They don't display the shadow / reflection / etc dot in either bright sunlight or dark. I have a Vortex scope. If there's an issue they'll square it away. Good luck.

I have the same vortex, when it avg to low light and the intensity is somewhat cranked up I can see a similar second dot and also a bit backwash of red around the edges of the lens.  That said I would never run it that bright in that lighting situation as it is a non-issue when turned down just a bit.  Now take the thing out into sun light and crank it up, no issue for me as I cannot see the shadowing effect of diode.

Last 3 posts thank you for your input. Vortex emailed me back, said its from the led housing being limited by available area for placement inside the unit. Small nuisance for compact size.

Interesting Vortex reply. I'm sure if there was a fix they'd be there for you. Having read this thread again about brighter settings, I had neither of mine cranked up when checking for the second dot. Just tested both in total dark and bright indoor lighting (very cloudy today). Both have 11 brightness settings. One is 2 MOA and the other 4 MOA. Observed each brightness setting in dark/ bright/ both optics. I have no secondary dot on either.

You should not see two dots.

Because you did not crank up your brightness to exacerbate the issue. You used the correct setting to match the conditions you were viewing the dot in.. Like your suppose to.

^^Why are you here again? You haven't provided any useful information toward my initial question and only seem to pop in here to express your crap.
