Hello Guys
A friend who has a gunstore has some of the lower priced Eotec sights for $398.  Will an Eotec standard model (the one that uses AA batteries) mount on an AR flattop with a fixed front sight without a special riser?  It would be neat if the center dot was slightly above the post of the front sight. Where does the little dot place if I slide an Eotec on my receiver?

Thank you

Bob

Look up absolute vs lower 1/3 cowitness. From what you describe, you want absolute cowitness. The standard EOTech models you described will give you just that. The EXPS and 553 models come at a height that gives you lower 1/3, not absolute.

IBT EOTech haters show up ....

Thank you Alpha.  That is what I was hoping for.  I prefer irons but at 61 its getting tougher.

EOTechs come fromt he factory set up for absolute cowitness (Reticle is going to be on line with the front sight post).
1/3 cowitness is possible, but kinda unnecessary with the EOTech.

Not all of them.

People would choose lower 1/3 with an Eotech for the same reason they would with any other RDS.  Fixed front + rear irons in the way? Feel a FSB would clutter your FOV with absolute?  Simply like the added height?  It being an Eotech has no effect on any of those.
