If I have a full length rail do I still need a mount with offset?
Any one have opinons on the Samson DMR mount?  http://www.samson-mfg.com/product/DMR34-2.html

Is it a true one piece moonlighting rail?  Not a separate upper and rail in front attached to the barrel nut?

If it is monolithic you do not need a cantilever one piece mount.  If you want QD return to zero, you might want a one piece anyway, but it would not need to cantilevered.

Mine is not monolithic, it's the newer free float style that attaches to the nut.. I am thinking tool less detach with return to zero.

If you don't have a monolithic rail you need the cantilever.  Most rails double up the picatinny lug where they meet the upper receiver, which prevents mounting on both the rail and the receiver.  And there's more chance of movement, however slight, if you were to mount on both the rail and upper receiver.
