Anyone have any thoughts on the new F1 4-14 shv?
Any comparisons to the vortex pst?

I got my brother in law the 5-20 one for Christmas. I'd say the glass has the same clarity as my 5.5-22 NXS

I'm looking forward to responses.  My unsubstantiated presumption was that the SHV was a sort of "meh" optic for people who want to say they own a NF.

Agreed. My 4-16 PST is as clear to me as my 3.5-15 NXS. At half the price with a Zero stop to boot.

I have a 6-24 Viper PST (1st generation one) and I would say the night forces are much clearer.

Now, I have looked through the newer PST 6-24 and it seems clearer than mine. Maybe they have gotten a little better.

I actually have a SHV 4-14X50 F1 and a PST 6-24X50 FFP.  I've also owned a PST 2.5-10X32 FFP, sold it to get the SHV F1.

The glass on my SHV is better than the PSTs I've owned but not by much.  My brother has looked through and shot with all these scopes, he also agrees the SHV has better glass.  The PST does have a longer eye relief but for me the eyebox on the SHV is a little more forgiving.  The turrets on the PST have slightly more clickly feel but they have less elevation adjustment than the SHV.

Build quality/durability on the SHV is better but the trade off is weight.  Also the SHV is made in Japan while the PST is made in the Philippines.
I've actually had to use Vortex's warranty twice.  I use to have a Viper 6.5-20x44 PA and dust would get behind the ocular lens.  First time I sent it back, Vortex cleaned and purged it.  However, dust got behind the ocular lens again.  The 2nd time Vortex replaced it with another one and I decided to give it to my brother.

You can't really beat the price and feature set of the PST.  However, I don't see myself getting another PST.  If I ever get another Vortex it will be a RAZOR.

I'd like to see more mil/mil offerings.  I think they only have one currently.
