Hi guys. I'm putting together a .22 upper for backyard practice. I've got an EOTech 552 on my 5.56 upper but I don't want to spend that kind of money on an optic for practice at 50 yards max range. Is there anything similar but less expensive, say below $200.

TIA,
Marty

I would probably look at a 1x prism scope

I'm not looking for a scope. I'm trying to duplicate my 5.56 upper as close as I can.

It's going to be hard to find anything under $200 with a circle-dot type reticle like your EOTech that is not junk that will quickly fail.

There are several medium grade red dots, both tube type and open reflex type at around the $200 price point or a little each way that would work well on a .22LR upper.  Bushnell's TRS-25 red dot is widely available at around $100 including the necessary riser for use on an AR type upper.  Primary Arms and Holosun make similar ones with various feature sets.  Most people would probably just get a TRS-25 or a Primary Arms micro dot and be done for about $100 or so.

I like the mini-reflex sights like Burris Fastfire 3, J-Point, Docter, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and Trijicon RMR.  I have a duty grade DeltaPoint Pro on my AR, but also have a Burris Fastfire 3 that has worked well.  You will need the cross-slot version and a riser to go with the FF 3.   Total cost might be a little above you budget, perhaps $250, but it will not fall apart on you, will provide long service, and is bright enough to use in full sunlight.

Thanks MS556. I'm going to see what I can find at the gunshow in Gulfport this weekend. What part of the state are you in?

Look at the Vortex Strikefire. It doesn't have the same reticle as your EoTech has but it is a pretty solid 1x red/green dot. I've had one on my AUG for the last couple years and been pretty satisfied with it. Not to mention that it has a lifetime warranty. I'm eventually probably going to switch to a 1-4x24 on that rifle but not because of anything that's wrong with the scope, just because I want some more magnification because my eyesight sucks these days.
