I have both but only plan on keeping one. I like the versatility of the strike eagle 6x, better recently type reticle imo. My question is to those who have owned one or the other. Or those with experience with vortex lower end optics (this is more thier mid I guess). Is the long term durability of the vortex on par with the mtac? The glass on the mtac is probably a hair better but for its intended purpose I like the strike eagle. I can't stand to own something that's not very durable.
Opinions appreciated. Z |

Shouldn't you be comparing the Viper PST 1-4x24 with the mtac?
The PST is much better than the strike eagle if you ask me. I have shot a bunch through the pst and comparing it with the strike eagle it's not even close. It's also only about $100-150 more than the trike eagle and comes in capped turrets and MRAD if you prefer that. Note that capped is only available in moa. I'm saving now to throw a viper pst on my SBR. |

No issue with that comparison but I received a SE as part trade. Adjustments don't matter as much to me as on a 1-6 optic on an AR 5.56 i plan to shoot the holds for the most part. There is certainly a call for turrets etc , I just save that for my 7.62 guns. Though that seems like a fair comparison.

Z I guess my point is that you're comparing a low range model of vortex to a mid range Burris. I don't expect the strike eagle to be nearly as bright or durable. I do expect the PST to be as bright and durable, that was my point. |

Sure, fair point. I didn't mean to seem like I was arguing. I just already have the strike fire. I don't shoot my magnified AR much so I'm fine with the mtac for reliability. I also don't feel confident in the lower end strike fire Even though I like the 1-6 and the reticle. The mtac is probably a better fit. If I was buying new the mid range vortex would be an option. Anybody want to trade a strike eagle in Adam recon x for an aimpont |

Z I had posted a thread full of pics on here comparing the two and my thoughts however I can no longer find it. I was the same as you. I kept the strike eagle and sold the mtac. Strike eagle went back to vortex once (because I dropped it on the eyepiece causing the end of the tube to bend/crack) but the scope still held zero and tracked true. Just a cosmetic thing and I was sending a diff. scope back that I also broke by falling. |
