I can pick up a used CompM2 for $250.  Is it worth getting?  Is there anything else in the $200-$300 range that's any better? I see used Eotech's in that range as well.

Best optic there is in the price range of 250ish. Hell yes it's still viable.

Hell Yes!!

Great Optic - one of THE best values for the money.

Solid Durable Built Mil Spec for what people pay for clone crap...

I run it on my rough duty AR.  It may be rained on, frozen, baked, but it will WORK when it is needed!

I put in a $4 battery every 4 months (2920 hours) since I have mine on Ready To Go. (which I do ), and don't sweat a thing...

Where are you finding it for $250 ? I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if it is in good shape. I have a ML2 that is 12 yrs old that I am still loving. Bouoght an H1 mirco and just can't fall in love with it. Its nice and all, and I have no plans to get rid of it, but I just can't seem to find the dot as quick as I can with my ML2. I've been looking for another M2 or M3 used in good shape and they seem to be $350-$400.

Someone is selling new ones on eBay.    Don't know if they are real or not.   Don't know how to tell.   325 bucks or something like that.

My 11 y/o M2 is still working well no issues at all, the battery life could be better but I just change my battery every year.

I've also got an EOTech which is not as good as my Aimpoint, the point of aim changes with quick temperature changes, shorter battery life and check out the EOTech refund thread around here which some owners are eligible to get because of their admitted problems.

I mostly use mine for CQB and under 100 yd, the 4 MOA dot size is harder to use for long ranges, the dot brightness could be dimmed down, but if you shoot mostly long ranges get the M3 with 2 MOA dot.

My first Aimpoint model 2000 that I bought new in 1989 I used for 15 years without any problems.
