I'm currently thinking about getting one of the cheaper 3x prism optics. I've checked out the Burris option, not a huge fan of the reticle. The primary arms seems to have a fair amount of negative reviews. The vortex seems to be the winner right now, but I've heard one case of it failing due to water getting in during rain. I haven't gotten a good feel for the things durability. Can some people with first hand experience comment to the ruggedness of the Vortex 3x spitfire, or similar vortex optics?
Thanks. |
| I have it on my Tavor. 1500 rounds so far with zero problems. I generally shoot it with the illuminated reticle turned off, so it's still on its original battery. Side by side with a 3x Acog, both had same brightness and clarity, with the Spitfire having a larger FOV. |

Where did you read a "fair amount" of negative reviews on the PA Prisms? There may be some, but I guess I just haven't come across that many. In my opinion, my 4x has been fantastic for what it is, and I'm not the only one. It's not perfect, it's not an ACOG and PA will tell you that. For the price, especially with a QD mount, it seems hard to beat. I also like the ACSS reticle.
Not trying to persuade you from the Vortex; I have a buddy that also has one mounted on a Tavor, and it seems solid. I just think that the PA is worth a look in case you haven't written it off yet. |

I think most of the negative review/comments I see about the PA optics come from the guys shelling out for the 500+ optics. Everything on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt I guess.
I do like the ACSS reticle. I'll do some more research on the PA optic. Thanks. |
