do you guys feel like the mount that comes on the pro model is a good system with this ratcheting deal?does it seem to return to zero? I have read that some can get it to RTZ. I have tried several times and never accomplished this bit I've had good results just lining up the backup sights with the dot to ensure that its close enough for HD. It typically needs a slight adjustment 1 or 2 clicks on windage. I do like the mount and think it works fine, I have unscrewed the spacer and ring and flipped the base around so that the knob is on the right hand side because I've had the knob hit me good while it was on the left side and i was running. As the other user said a $70 dollar EE find isn't a huge expense or a bad idea. ETA: should have said move the dot to line up eith the sights. |

I think it's a fine mount. If you make sure to mount it the same every time, it will return to zero pretty well. I just make sure I put it in the same slot, push it to the front of the slot and tighten it with four clicks. Seems to work for me.....
That being said, Ill likely replace it with a a Larue simply for the spare battery compartment. |

The purpose of the ratchet is to keep idiots from over torquing the screw during installation. It has nothing to do with return to zero, and I don't recall the PRO or its mount being advertised as a return to zero system, so I would not expect it to do so.
I have almost exclusively used PROs with their factory mounts, and I have not had any problems with them. I always check for integrity of my gear before I start using it, and I will throw a click or two on the ratchet every once in a while. I have never had one come loose, and have never heard of one coming loose on other people I know that use them. I bet the majority that are sold stay on their factory mounts. |
