I don't have a lot of experience with this. Where would you start?
Looking at a red dot sight for an SBR. I'd like the physical size of the actual unit to be compact, and I have a good idea what brand I want. I don't know what size of dot to look for. The gun is an SBR Mini Draco (7.62x39 with a 7 inch barrel). So the range on the gun and accuracy is not the greatest. What range would you consider comfortable for this gun? No benching and target size would be man sized steel. What dot size would be appropriate for it? I'll look at a couple of options, mainly asking for a place to start the quest. I'm thinking 8 MOA, thoughts? |

I would run a nice t1 2 or 4 MOA since it is a rifle, but that is just my opinion. Every weapon's accuracy is different so I have no idea what it is capable of. 8 MOA would work too, but it would make be a little more cumbersome on longer shots or smaller targets. |
| I expect you'll be using it within 300 yards. My 6.5 MOA RX30 is perfectly adequate from 0-200, but is a little tricky at 300 due to the dot covering up a human silhouette at 300. A 4 MOA dot would be a little better. I would reserve 8 MOA and larger dots for pistols or pistol caliber carbines. |

I have a Mini Draco SBR with the 7" barrel. It is part of my EDC package.
I run a TRS-25 on the front handguard (midwest industries) and can ring a 12" circle plate easy standing without support. I havent trained with it beyond 100yds. My dot is a 3 MOA and is perfect for the gun in my appointment. |

Quoted:
Leupold DeltaPoint 7.5 MOA triangle. Fint point at tip of big 7.5 MOA delta shaped highly visible triangle. New duty grade version with thick shielding and top accessible battery about to be released as DeltaPoint Pro. The sight is very compact, weighing only two ounces or so. https://www.leupold.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/DP_Pro_RearSight_Back.jpg Wow. I must rethink my optic choices. |
