I am looking for a block to mount a front sight at the end of the barrel and not on the hand guard rail. I would like to modify my DPMS G2 308 AP4 16" with a long, free float hand guard. I have measured the barrel at this point. It's 0.6" in comparison of the gas block location at 0.75".
I have not found a block to fit this. Any suggestions? |

Still seems like a huge amount of effort that would be more easily solved by a standard height flip up sight on the front of your rail. |

A handguard that long is likely to be very susceptible to flexing under pressure. A front sight all the way out at the end is a bad idea unless it's strictly an "emergency backup" kind of deal. OP, do you have access to a machinist? Press-fitting a small sleeve on the end of the barel and turning it to .750 should be a pretty simple operation, and would give you a ton of front sight options. |
