I am looking for a block to mount a front sight at the end of the barrel and not on the hand guard rail.  I would like to modify my DPMS G2 308 AP4 16" with a long, free float hand guard. I have measured the barrel at this point.  It's 0.6" in comparison of the gas block location at 0.75".

I have not found a block to fit this.  Any suggestions?

That is going to be quite a challenge.  Going for a Dissipator look, or what? If you find something, it is also likely to be pricey.  Sure would be easier and less expensive to simply put a front sight on the rail.

Maybe a .625 gas block or sight base. Still would need the use of sheet shims cut to size, & wrapped around the barrel to make up the difference.

Thank you for your inputs.

I have found a RS Products BM-1 Light Mount - RS-BM1 sight block with 1913 rail.  It is designed for a 0.59" barrel.  What will be the challenges in using this?

Might work.  Lord only knows what sight would be needed to align properly with your stock and standard height rear sight.  Measurements will be needed to see how much difference there is between that rail height and your own upper receiver rail.  Then seek out a sight of that odd height, or perhaps a riser between the two to get you there.

Still seems like a huge amount of effort that would be more easily solved by a standard height flip up sight on the front of your rail.

A handguard that long is likely to be very susceptible to flexing under pressure.  A front sight all the way out at the end is a bad idea unless it's strictly an "emergency backup" kind of deal.

OP, do you have access to a machinist?  Press-fitting a small sleeve on the end of the barel and turning it to .750 should be a pretty simple operation, and would give you a ton of front sight options.
