r received my Holosun 503c today and have a few questions.
First off... I'm confused with the mount. The "tall" mount provided is 1/3. I like absolute, so matched up my PA "absolute" (T1 pattern) mount to it... and noticed that THAT too became "1/3" on it?? Apparently the HS503c is not standard T1 height (as it does not match up with other "absolute or 1/3" height descriptions)? So now I have to hunt down a HS 503c specific "absolute" mount? My next question is, in the instructions, they describe "auto" mode where it claims "automatically switches to battery mode upon lack of light". Mine does not do this (and I've tried the "auto" mode setting). Mine is solar (only) and if you cover the panel, it dims almost to non existent (yet there is still a VERY faint dot visible) but never switches to battery. To get "battery mode", I have to depress the + button for 3 seconds (this is what they describe as "manual mode", which is all mine seems capable of: either solar or battery, either manually switched). Does anyone's 503c actually switch between solar and battery ON IT's OWN? Mine doesn't. Other than those concerns I LIKE this RDS. Very crisp, nice circle dot, clear glass, etc. Not fond of the 1/3 mount, nor the miniscule battery tray screws, nor how sensitive the +- buttons are (it's difficult to get them simultaneously to turn completely off). Can anyone compare theirs or let me know about the mount issue, or the "auto" mode switching thing? Thank you! UPDATE: I'm very concerned with this unit, as I notice the dot will move when even mild pressure is applied to the turret caps. This can't be good (or normal). |

Mine arrived today, DOA. Dropping it off with the UPS in the morning. Are you sure it was DOA? Did you install the battery correctly? I did it backwards at first (the battery actually goes in upside down with the + side DOWN). Even the solar feature will not work until the battery is installed. |

Also, can anyone with this unit please check and see if their dot/reticle moves to the right when the windage knob cap is tightened up? Mine changes between cap on/off. If I zero it with the cap off (the only way you can), once I tighten the cap back on the dot will move left (the cap, on mine at least, will pull on the windage turret enough to make the dot move right).
Can you guys that have this optic please check yours with windage cap on AND off and let me know if your zero seems different between the two? |

The "upside down" battery thing got me too ETA: can you do me a favor and check your dot/reticle for movement/difference between windage cap ON tight and cap OFF? Thanks man! |

Just checked, and there wasn't any effect from removing or replacing either cap. Quoted:
