Im building my first AR and was forgot that if im going to use iron sights Im going to need a rear sight. My front sight is a fixed a2 and i was interested in putting a flip up sight on the rear and possibly a flip up on front. then doing that i would have to change the gas block. just looking for a decent set or single flip up sight for my ar. any input would be appreciated. THANKS!

What's your budget?

I know sights can be really expensive and im already getting above where i wanted my ar to be but im thinking like 80-100 probably.

i was looking at Troy BUIS but they're pretty expensive.

Also if i just put one BUIS on the rear will it work with the a2 front sight?

Yes, a folding rear BUIS will work with your "A2" FSB.  In your price range, I'd probably just spring for some Magpul MBUS BUIS.  Quality and relatively cheap.

Ill just tell you my build so far.

I have
Lower:
Spikes Punisher Lower
Spikes LPK
Spikes Stock Hardware Kit
Magpul CTS Stock
Magpul MIAD Grip

Upper:
Complete BCM 16" upper w/ Midwest Industries Handguard
Magpul Slanted grip
VLTOR offset light mount
surefire 6px defender light

Im at probably about $900 for all this and am excited to shoot but dont know if thats a good price for it or too much.

Seems fine to me.  Get yourself a rear iron sight and go shoot it!

OP, with that upper you should have an "F marked" front sight base, which is actually a different height than the A2 front sight base.

This is good news though, because you can use what's common. I'd pick up a Matech for 50-55 bucks and enjoy while keeping the front sight base.

The Matech is a fine rear BUIS as well, OP.

This.  Really hard to beat for durability and utility on a budget.  It is not elevstion adjustable for shooting 300+ ysrds, but most backup sights are never used for long range.
