I am looking for the best sub-$600 2-4x fixed power scope for my Ruger M77 Guide Gun in .30-06. Also looking for a 1" tube, and a simple reticle. I do not need illumination.

Application is a hunting gun for mostly 100 yards and in.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

If you are price conscious, the Weaver K4 4x38.

If not, the Leupold 3x20, or 4x33 FX scopes.

Not much call for a fixed power 1" tube that doesn't have bells and whistles.

If you can find one, the old Burris and Nikon Fixed power scopes were very nice.

ETA The Weaver packs a lot of value into the K line and I do not think that 4x33 is worth almost double the price. The 3x20 has ~4" of eye relief, so you need to take that into account. I would look at the 6x42 FX Leupold, as it is a great scope and doesn't give up much FOV over the 4x33. It has better glass and is, IMO, an all around better scope. It's approaching $400 too.

I used a Leupold FX-3 6X and it was a great scope.  Custom shop can put different reticles and turrets on it if you ever want to.

I would vote for a good 4-6 power Weaver K series. They can be found with a little effort (Amazon) as model number 849415. This for a 4 power 38mm obj. lens.
I have hunted for almost 40 years with a Husqvarna .270 and a Weaver 6x. Current scope was put on the gun after the first one got bent when I took a fall in S. Dak. about 23 years ago. It still works perfectly, and the combo has put a lot of meat on the table. Best shot I made with this set-up was 374 paces across a draw at an antelope. I have newer, more modern guns and optics, but the Husky is the tried and true top gun in my safe. Unless you are shooting beyond 5-600 yards, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a good fixed power scope.

There are a lot of used Weavers out there in excellent for decent prices as well.

Amazon has the scope I mentioned for +/- $175.00

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I'll do some reading on the scopes mentioned.

The FX-3 6X42 is a great scope built plenty tough too.

Take a look at Primary Arms 2.5.  It's able to range & bullet drop.
